A new collaboration between Finnish technology firm Bittium Oyj and telecommunications provider Telia has yielded a strategic communications solution for military applications. The development integrates secure tactical military systems with commercial 5G infrastructure, marking a significant step for Finland's defense capabilities.

Strategic Implications and Technological Integration

At the heart of the newly presented system is Bittium's FUSOR software router. This technology acts as a gateway, bridging the gap between the Finnish Defence Forces' tactical communication networks and public 5G services. Leveraging Bittium's proprietary C5 systems technology, the solution creates a dynamic mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) capable of operating across extensive geographical areas.
