A significant 12.6% holding in the Austrian energy giant Verbund continues to serve as a crucial financial buffer for EVN. This strategic investment now constitutes a major component of the utility's overall market capitalization, providing fundamental support to its valuation. This dynamic has prompted analysts at Barclays to conduct a substantial revision of their assessment of the Lower Austrian energy provider.

Robust Technical Positioning and Future Catalysts

EVN's shares demonstrated strength in recent trading, closing at €29.00 on Friday. This price comfortably sits above the 200-day moving average, currently positioned at €26.12. While quantitative trend models suggest a potential for a brief consolidation phase, the longer-term upward trajectory remains intact. The company's Capital Markets Day in October is anticipated to deliver fresh momentum, with management expected to outline detailed plans for its future strategic direction.

Barclays Revises Price Target Upward

In response to the firm's underlying strengths, Barclays analyst Peter Crampton has significantly raised the price target for EVN. The new target is set at €29.50, a notable increase from the previous €29.00. This adjustment brings the stock close to its 52-week high of €29.65. Despite this upward revision, the bank maintains an "Equal Weight" rating on the shares, as it views the stock as fairly valued relative to the broader European utilities sector.
