DroneShield Expands Manufacturing Footprint with First European Production Line
12.03.2026 - 03:45:16 | boerse-global.de
In a significant strategic shift, DroneShield is establishing its first manufacturing facility outside of Australia. The defense technology company is setting up a new production line within the European Union, aiming to accelerate delivery times and strengthen its positioning for European defense contracts. This move is supported by specific capacity targets.
Strategic Alignment with European Defense Initiatives
This expansion is a direct response to evolving political and procurement frameworks in Europe. Programs like "ReArm Europe" and the "Readiness 2030" initiative increasingly require defense suppliers to demonstrate regional industrial participation. To be a viable supplier for European militaries, establishing local production capacity is becoming essential.
The new European facility was developed in partnership with a continental contract manufacturer. It will handle the full assembly of complete systems, encompassing precision machining, printed circuit board assembly, and wiring harness production. The supply chain for this operation is already largely EU-based and will function independently from the company's headquarters and main production site in Sydney.
Aggressive Capacity Ramp-Up Planned
This European venture is part of a much broader growth strategy. DroneShield has outlined ambitious plans to dramatically scale its output. The company intends to increase its annual production capacity from approximately AUD 500 million in 2025 to AUD 2.4 billion by the end of 2026. This represents a near fivefold expansion within a twelve-month window.
The first systems from the European production line are scheduled for delivery by mid-2026. DroneShield has already reported secured revenue of AUD 95.6 million for 2026, supplemented by military contracts worth AUD 21.7 million for mobile counter-drone systems.

Market Expectations and Forthcoming Milestones
DroneShield's shares have seen substantial gains over the past year, with the current share price trading notably above its 200-day moving average. This market performance reflects high investor expectations for the company's growth trajectory.
The critical test for these ambitious plans will come in mid-2026 with the initial European deliveries. The timeline for this first production batch will serve as a concrete benchmark. It will demonstrate whether DroneShield can successfully transition from an Australian niche provider to a multinational defense supplier capable of meeting large-scale, regional production mandates.
