Europe's leading telecommunications provider, Deutsche Telekom, is charting a bold new course. At the recent Mobile World Congress 2026, the company unveiled a comprehensive technology offensive, underpinned by a landmark partnership with SpaceX and significant advancements in artificial intelligence. This strategic shift aims to secure its competitive edge for the next decade.

Financial Foundation and Market Performance

This ambitious technological vision is supported by a robust operational and financial base. The company reported organic revenue growth to €119.1 billion in 2025, with its US subsidiary, T-Mobile US, remaining a key growth driver. Deutsche Telekom recently increased its stake in T-Mobile US to 52.8%. Investor confidence is reflected in the share price, which has gained over 19% since the start of the year to trade at €33.24, maintaining a stable position near its 52-week high.

For the current fiscal year 2026, management has issued the following guidance:
* Adjusted EBITDA: €47.4 billion
* Free Cash Flow: Approximately €19.8 billion
* Dividend: €1.00 per share (Ex-date: 2 April 2026)
* Share Buyback: Program of up to €2 billion

The combination of ongoing share repurchases, an increased dividend, and a clear strategic roadmap creates a supportive environment for the equity. The next milestone for assessing annual targets will be the release of Q1 2026 results on 13 May.

Closing the Connectivity Gap with Starlink

A cornerstone of the new strategy is the plan to launch Europe's first direct satellite-to-phone service. Starting in 2028, the telecom giant intends to leverage SpaceX's Starlink technology to eliminate mobile network dead zones across ten European nations. Compatible smartphones will automatically switch to the satellite network when terrestrial signals are unavailable. This initiative is designed to drastically improve network resilience during natural disasters and places considerable competitive pressure on rivals like Vodafone and Orange.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Deutsche Telekom?

Deepening AI Integration and 6G Development

Beyond satellite connectivity, artificial intelligence is being deeply embedded into the core network operations. The company introduced the "Magenta AI Call Assistant," a network-based AI for voice calls that will provide live translation and call summarization. Concurrently, the MINDR system, co-developed with Google Cloud, is increasingly taking over autonomous management of network infrastructure.

To cement this technological leadership long-term, Deutsche Telekom is also pooling its R&D resources with T-Mobile US to spearhead the development of the forthcoming 6G standard.
