Deutsche Telekom's Strategic Expansion: Satellite Ventures and Shareholder Returns Drive Momentum
12.03.2026 - 06:46:26 | boerse-global.de
Deutsche Telekom is accelerating its growth strategy. Bolstered by a landmark satellite partnership and robust profit increases, the Bonn-based telecommunications giant is strengthening its market position. The key question for investors is how much potential remains in the equity following its recent performance surge.
The US Division Continues to Propel Growth
The operational foundation for the company's ambitious plans was laid by its strong 2025 financial results. Group revenue advanced to €119.1 billion, with adjusted EBITDA (EBITDA AL) reaching €44.2 billion. Once again, the primary growth engine was subsidiary T-Mobile US, where Deutsche Telekom increased its stake to 52.8% in February. In its domestic German market, total revenue saw a slight decline, attributed to weaker device sales, though service revenues demonstrated growth. This solid operational performance is mirrored in the capital markets: since the start of the year, the share price has already recorded a gain of over 17 percent.
A Strategic Foray into Satellite Connectivity
Among the most strategically significant recent developments is an alliance with SpaceX's Starlink, announced at the Mobile World Congress. Starting in 2028, the German company plans to offer a satellite-based mobile service across ten European countries. When a smartphone loses its terrestrial signal, it will automatically switch to Starlink's second-generation network (V2). This initiative is designed not only to eliminate coverage gaps in topographically challenging regions but also to ensure connectivity for up to 140 million potential users during extreme emergencies, such as widespread power outages.
Capital Returns and Upcoming Milestones
Alongside its operational progress, management is prioritizing capital returns to shareholders. By early March, the group had already repurchased over 12.3 million of its own shares under its ongoing program, which is valued at up to $2 billion. Furthermore, investors are set to receive an increased dividend of €1.00 per share for the past fiscal year. With a closing price of €32.65 yesterday, this underscores the company's shareholder-friendly approach.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Deutsche Telekom?
Key upcoming targets and dates for the calendar include:
- April 1, 2026: Annual General Meeting in Bonn
- April 2, 2026: Planned ex-dividend date
- May 13, 2026: Publication of first-quarter results
- Full Year 2026: Target of €47.4 billion in adjusted EBITDA
Whether the share price can sustain its upward trajectory will largely depend on the company's ability to operationally support its ambitious 2026 profit forecast when quarterly figures are presented in May. The combination of technological expansion and consistent share buybacks provides a stable foundation for this objective.
