Broadcom is accelerating its push beyond custom silicon with a new enterprise software platform, even as a landmark chip deal with Meta Platforms underscores its enduring hardware dominance. The company’s strategy now visibly operates on two parallel tracks: securing foundational AI infrastructure deals and building the software to manage the resulting applications.

The hardware milestone is significant. Broadcom and Meta have extended their partnership through 2029, with an initial commitment to deploy a gigawatt of computing power based on Broadcom’s technology. At the core of this deal is Meta’s Training and Inference Accelerator (MTIA). Broadcom will provide the chip design, packaging, and high-speed networking, but the standout feature is the manufacturing process. The new MTIA chips are set to be the AI industry’s first custom silicon produced on a 2-nanometer node, granting Broadcom a notable technological edge over competitors.

This hardware strength is reflected in the financials. For its first quarter of fiscal 2026, Broadcom posted revenue of $19.31 billion, a 29.5% year-over-year increase. AI semiconductor sales within that figure doubled to $8.4 billion. Management forecasts second-quarter revenue of approximately $22 billion, which would represent a 47% jump, with the AI contribution expected to surge about 145% to over $10.7 billion.

Simultaneously, the company is launching its VMware Tanzu Platform Agent Foundations, a runtime environment designed for autonomous AI applications in private clouds. Announced at the AI in Finance Summit, the platform emphasizes governance, security, and control, aiming to move AI agents from isolated testing into full-scale production. It integrates zero-trust networks, immutable buildpacks, secrets isolation via VMware vDefend, and a central AI gateway for managing model access, costs, and security.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Broadcom?

Analysts are taking note of the broader opportunity. UBS analyst Timothy Arcuri reiterated a Buy rating and a $475 price target, raising his AI revenue estimate for fiscal 2027 to $145 billion from $133 billion. He views recent announcements as incremental confirmations of Broadcom’s ASIC diversification story, which includes MediaTek as another manufacturing partner.

A notable governance change accompanies the deepening Meta partnership. Broadcom CEO Hock Tan will not stand for re-election to Meta’s board of directors, transitioning instead to an advisory role focused on Meta’s custom silicon roadmap. This move formalizes a closer commercial relationship while adjusting formal oversight.

The stock has reacted positively, gaining over three percent on the recent chip deal announcement. Shares currently trade around €335, up roughly four percent on the day and nearly twelve percent over the past week. Year-to-date, the advance stands at approximately 13%. However, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) hovering near 71 indicates the stock is technically in overbought territory. Historically, AI-related announcements from Broadcom have not guaranteed immediate gains; the average stock movement following the last five such announcements was a decline of 2.15% the next day.

Broadcom at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

The company’s annual meeting in Palo Alto on April 20 will provide a formal stage for these developments. The agenda includes director elections and auditor ratification, where Hock Tan’s board departure will be finalized. As Broadcom bridges cutting-edge chip fabrication with enterprise-grade AI software, it is positioning itself as a multifaceted architect of the AI infrastructure build-out.
