Apple's Display Ambitions and Upbeat Forecasts Fuel Investor Optimism
15.04.2026 - 20:05:20 | boerse-global.deApple's stock is drawing fresh attention from Wall Street, buoyed by a significant analyst upgrade and a clear, long-term hardware roadmap centered on advanced display technology. Bank of America recently raised its price target on the tech giant from $320 to $325, reinforcing a Buy rating ahead of the company's upcoming earnings report.
The bank's analyst, Wamsi Mohan, projects second fiscal quarter results that outpace both market consensus and Apple's own guidance. He forecasts revenue of $113 billion and earnings per share of $2.00, exceeding the common estimates of $109 billion and $1.93. This implies a revenue growth rate of roughly 18%, surpassing Apple's provided range of 13% to 16%. Mohan's optimism hinges on expectations of 60 million iPhone units sold and a 14% year-over-year jump in Services revenue, a segment that boasts a formidable installed base of over 2.5 billion active devices globally.
This positive outlook follows a record-setting first quarter where revenue surged 16% to $143.8 billion. The company's gross margin expanded to 48.2%, with the high-margin Services division achieving an impressive 76.5% margin. The stock has already responded favorably in April, climbing more than four percent.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Apple?
Beyond quarterly figures, a strategic shift in Apple's product design is taking shape. According to industry reports from ET News and DigiTimes, the company is preparing a sweeping transition to OLED displays across its portfolio. Samsung Display is slated to begin mass production of OLED panels for the iPad Air later this year, with the updated model expected in spring 2027. This move will replace the current LCD screens, bringing superior color accuracy, deeper blacks, and better energy efficiency to the mid-tier tablet, though it will use simpler LTPS panels compared to the advanced two-stack LTPO technology in the iPad Pro.
The iPad Air is just the beginning. Apple's roadmap reportedly calls for an OLED iPad mini with an 8.5-inch screen as soon as 2026. The company aims to complete a full transition, extending OLED to the MacBook Pro, iMac, and MacBook Air by 2028.
Investors will get a crucial data point when Apple reports its official second-quarter results after the US market closes on Thursday, April 30. Revenue above $110.7 billion would validate the bullish thesis. The broader analyst community currently shows 14 Buy ratings, 8 Hold ratings, and one Sell recommendation, with an average price target of $304.84.
Despite the optimism, risks persist. The stock, trading around €221, remains nearly 10% below its 52-week high of €246, and a Relative Strength Index reading of 80 suggests it may be overbought in the near term. Analysts from Evercore ISI and UBS have cautioned about a slowdown in App Store growth, stagnant US expansion, and structural headwinds. These include a €2.34 billion EU antitrust fine, reduced commission rates in China, and ongoing supply chain dependencies in East Asia. Component shortages, particularly for memory chips, are also expected to pressure gross margins more in Q2 than previously anticipated.
