Following a period of financial strain, ABO Wind AG is demonstrating tangible operational progress. The project developer is bolstering its much-needed liquidity through the strategic sale of a major North American asset and by securing new service contracts in Southern Europe. These international agreements represent a concrete move toward stabilizing the company's business model.

Restructuring Focused on Cash Generation

The recent operational updates are a direct component of the group's ongoing restructuring efforts. After previous miscalculations regarding project profitability, the absolute priority now lies in generating liquid funds through divestments. Managing Director Karsten Schlageter has confirmed the maintenance of operational stability during this demanding phase.

The creditor support secured in March is now taking effect. The newly regulated provision of collateral for guarantees enables ABO Wind to re-emerge as an active bidder in upcoming tender rounds, allowing for the gradual monetization of its existing project pipeline.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying ABO WIND AG?

Divestment and Service Expansion Drive Inflows

A central component of the current cash inflows is the divestment of the "Papoqji’jg" wind farm project in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. Investor Eolectric is acquiring the facility, which is scheduled for grid connection by the end of 2028 with a planned capacity of 63 megawatts. A notable feature is the pre-arranged, long-term power purchase agreement with the Pabineau First Nation indigenous community.

Concurrently, the company is expanding its service business on the Iberian Peninsula. For the 65-megawatt "Belorado I" solar park in Spain's Burgos province, ABO Wind is handling infrastructure planning and grid connection for external investors. Contracts of this nature provide predictable revenue streams without the high capital requirements associated with proprietary project development.

Domestic Market Pipeline Strengthens

Progress is also evident in ABO Wind's home market. In the latest tender by the German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur), the company secured tariff awards for wind farm expansions in North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg, with a total volume of 16.4 megawatts. Commissioning of these facilities is slated for autumn 2027.

These awards are complemented by new construction permits for wind farms in Saarland and North Rhine-Westphalia totaling 35 megawatts. This growth expands the pipeline in the core German market: the company currently holds approximately 650 megawatts of approved wind projects domestically, which management cites as the foundation for future revenue development.
