Starship development
In an issuer update dated September 15, 2026, SpaceX said Starship was preparing to move into an orbital-flight phase. The company said Flight 14 would begin flying orbital missions intended to deliver Starlink V3 satellites and other payloads, while also conducting flight tests including an initial orbital propellant-transfer demonstration. SpaceX said the initial orbital flight profiles would retain passively safe options, including predetermined ocean splashdown areas. The company also described monitoring systems for engine health, communications, flight computers, navigation sensors, tank pressure and structural integrity. SpaceX said more than 500 physical sensors are installed on Starship, with additional vehicle components providing telemetry.
