MediaTek stock pre-market as company launches new smartphone chips

MediaTek stock is in the pre-market ahead of the Xetra open. The company launched two new smartphone chips on September 15, according to Reuters.
New smartphone chips
MediaTek introduced the Dimensity 9600 Pro, its first smartphone chip built using Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.’s 2-nanometer process. The company also unveiled the Dimensity 9600M, which uses a 3-nanometer process and targets a broader segment of the flagship smartphone market, Reuters reported.
AI processing focus
The Dimensity 9600 Pro includes a dedicated neural processing unit for generative artificial-intelligence applications on the device. MediaTek said the NPU improved processing of a user prompt before model generation by 51% versus the previous generation, according to Reuters.
The first smartphones using the two chips will launch soon, the company said.
