Transmission alliance in Brazil
On October 1, Iberdrola said it had completed the expansion of its strategic alliance with GIC in Brazil’s electricity transmission business through its subsidiary Neoenergia. The transaction added seven transmission assets to the joint platform. Neoenergia increased its stake in Neoenergia Transmissão from 50 percent to 51 percent, while GIC retained 49 percent, according to Iberdrola.
Iberdrola said the platform now comprises 16 assets and 6,710 kilometers of transmission lines, with an asset value of about BRL 25.5 billion, equivalent to approximately EUR 4.25 billion in the company’s release. Estimated annual regulated revenue was about BRL 1.9 billion, or EUR 320 million. Iberdrola also said it plans to invest nearly EUR 30 billion in electricity transmission and distribution networks through 2028, with the United Kingdom, the United States and Brazil as its main investment destinations, according to Iberdrola.
