China strategy adjusted
In a September 25, 2026 press release, Fresenius Medical Care said it was refining its China commercial strategy around a more localized portfolio, locally relevant innovation and a focused go-to-market approach. The company said it would discontinue local production and sales of the 4008A hemodialysis system and exit its China peritoneal dialysis business while maintaining existing obligations.
The portfolio actions are expected to result in approximately EUR 110 million of one-time costs, primarily related to impairment charges, scrappage and termination costs. Fresenius Medical Care said the amount is expected to be recognized as a special item in the third quarter of 2026 and that the adjustment is not expected to materially affect the future revenue outlook for its Care Enablement China business.
