Proposed amino-acid joint venture
In a corporate release dated October 2, 2026, ADM said it had agreed with CJ CheilJedang to form a joint venture to develop, manufacture and market fermentation-derived feed-grade amino acids. The proposed venture would combine CJ facilities in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Piracicaba, Brazil, with ADM’s feed-grade amino-acid facility in Decatur, Illinois, as well as CJ sales offices and licensed intellectual property.
CJ will be the majority owner, and the joint venture would receive exclusive rights to manufacture and sell feed-grade amino acids in the Americas. The launch remains subject to customary closing activities and regulatory approvals. ADM said its other Decatur operations and other global fermentation assets are outside the transaction.
