RINVOQ approval in Europe
AbbVie said the European Commission approved RINVOQ (upadacitinib) for active polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis in patients aged 2 and older who had responded inadequately to, or were intolerant of, one or more disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs. The approval covers a 15 mg tablet and a weight-based 1 mg/mL oral solution, and permits use as monotherapy or with methotrexate, according to the September 22, 2026, PR Newswire release.
The company said the decision was supported by the open-label Phase 1 SELECT-YOUTH study and data from adults with rheumatoid arthritis. In the pediatric study, 66.4 percent of 122 patients achieved an ACR pediatric 70 response at week 12, rising to 79.5 percent at week 48.
