Direct-current portfolio for data centers
ABB announced the launch of Infinitus, a direct-current portfolio designed to address rising power demand from artificial-intelligence data centers. The company said the portfolio combines solid-state transformers with direct-current distribution, protection and cooling technologies. ABB said the architecture is intended to improve energy efficiency, reduce infrastructure footprint and increase available computing capacity. ABB said the first facilities using the complete portfolio are expected to be installed and operational within two to three years.
Marine technology partnership
In a separate announcement, ABB said it had entered a technology partnership with Ferrari Hypersail as electrification partner. ABB will provide expertise in direct-current technology, energy management, marine electrical systems and energy storage for the renewable-energy-powered vessel. ABB said the project will use systems operating at 48 volts and 800 volts direct current.
