XRP changed hands at 1.25 USD on Wednesday as a suspected security breach at Binance unsettled the broader crypto market — a reminder that the token's price is being pulled by exchange infrastructure risk at the very moment Ripple is trying to sell investors on its growth story.

What Binance Is Actually Investigating

The exchange is looking into unauthorized transfers out of several hot wallets. Binance provisionally put the potentially affected assets at roughly 6.3 billion US dollars, though the final loss and the amount that can be recovered remain unknown. Deposits and withdrawals were suspended temporarily, and the platform said user losses would be covered through its SAFU insurance fund and corporate resources.

Worth keeping in perspective: the incident concerns one exchange's trading and custody infrastructure. No security flaw has been reported in the XRP Ledger itself. Still, Standard Chartered expects continued downward pressure until more details emerge and frozen assets are released, according to CoinDesk — a call on the wider crypto market that leaves XRP trading in a risk-off climate where Ripple's corporate progress can be drowned out in the near term.

A Revenue Target Is Not a Token Forecast

Ripple expects an annualized product revenue run rate of 900 million US dollars by the end of 2026. That figure describes the pace of revenue at year-end, annualized — not the total revenue actually booked during the year.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?

The distinction matters for anyone holding XRP. The projection maps Ripple's business across several products; it says nothing about where the token will trade, and it does not establish that every additional customer transaction will require XRP. Ripple's payments network is targeted to reach a cumulative volume of just under 150 billion US dollars by the end of 2026, and the number of customers and partners using multiple Ripple products has tripled this year. That growth spans custody, RLUSD, prime brokerage and treasury management alongside payments — meaning Ripple can win business without every transaction running through XRP. The gap between corporate success and token demand sits at the heart of the valuation debate.

Garlinghouse Draws the Line Himself

CEO Brad Garlinghouse said plainly that XRP is not suited to every transaction, and that the company will deploy the token where it makes sense. Depending on customer needs, fiat currency or RLUSD may be used instead. Speaking on Bloomberg Crypto, he also described XRP as a low-cost, scalable bridge asset between currencies, with RLUSD meant to complement that role rather than replace it. That is a positioning within a broader offering — not a promise that every new customer must buy XRP.

Financial coach John Vasquez offered a similar read, according to DigitalToday: XRP is likely to benefit only once real transactions and demand for the token rise. A wider distribution channel for Ripple's products alone, in his view, will not do the trick.

Flow Data Cuts Both Ways

Separately, on-chain signals offer no clean directional verdict. Large exchange inflows deserve attention, but the metric tracks movements to exchanges, not what happens to the assets afterward — so it proves neither a corresponding sell volume nor an immediate price effect. The same caution applies to blockchain activity generally: transfers are not confirmed buys or sells.

The US spot XRP ETF picture for yesterday is equally murky. Preliminary net inflows of 2.9 million US dollars were reported in some media accounts, against a competing tally of 8.4 million US dollars; the lower figure reflected only Bitwise's already-reported contribution. An incomplete reading cannot be treated like a finalized daily balance, and a single reported inflow does not prove a broad shift in demand.

XRP at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

Meanwhile, daily active accounts on the XRP Ledger reached 32,604 on Tuesday, according to media reports — above the reported 30-day average of 19,400. The report identifies neither a confirmed trigger for the jump nor evidence that it will last, and busier accounts do not automatically translate into additional XRP purchases.

Two Tests, Not One

For holders, the checklist splits cleanly in two. Near term, the Binance investigation needs resolving. Longer term, the token has to be woven into actual payment flows. Ripple's revenue target demonstrates ambition; it does not substitute for proof that demand for XRP is rising alongside it. Exchange transfers, fund flows and network usage each measure something different — together they show movement around XRP, but neither a confirmed sell-off nor a durable demand turnaround.
