XRP's Two-Track Buildout: Fund Flows Stay Narrow While Credit Tooling Awaits a Validator Vote
Published on 10/16/2026 at 16:51 | Editorial boerse-global.deFresh capital reaching US spot XRP exchange-traded funds remains a story of single products rather than broad appetite. Wednesday's tally put net inflows at roughly $740,000 — and Bitwise alone accounted for the entire sum, with the other four funds in the dataset logging neither gains nor withdrawals.
That headline number, though, only tells part of the story. A separate, holdings-based calculation pointed to a decline of 29,925 XRP. That measure covered six spot funds plus the Bitwise vehicle BITW, and left one further fund out because of a data gap. The two figures are not directly comparable: they track different fund universes and rely on different methodologies. A positive dollar reading therefore does not prove uniform accumulation across the market, just as a token decline does not translate into an equivalent cash exit. For anyone sizing up demand, the scope of the measurement matters as much as its sign.
The pattern is not new. On 8 October, about $8 million flowed into US spot XRP ETFs, and the whole amount was attributed to Franklin Templeton's XRPZ. That fund added roughly 6 million XRP, while the other four products in that day's review saw no money move at all. Both sessions, then, document demand that is real but concentrated — not a steady tide lifting every listed vehicle.
Credit Features Move to the Testnet, Not the Mainnet
Running alongside the fund data, the XRP Ledger's technical reach is widening. XRPL Commons said proposed lending functions are being trialed, opening a possible use for XRP beyond simply holding it. A live credit market, however, is not part of the deal yet: validator approval is still outstanding.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?
At the center of the trial are amendment proposals XLS-65 and XLS-66, which envision single-asset liquidity pools and fixed-term loans on the ledger. As of yesterday, validator backing stood at 60% and 54% respectively — both short of the supermajority needed to activate. The distinction matters. Testing, validator consent and dependable lending operations are three separate stages, so the trials signal neither an imminent launch nor any additional XRP demand that already exists.
The lending blueprint does include external borrower checks and optional first-loss reserves, designed to absorb losses before they reach other participants. Their intended use is not a promise of risk-free yield.
Evernorth Prepares to Put 473 Million Tokens to Work
On the institutional side, Evernorth has its own plans for the XRP it holds. The company announced partnerships Wednesday with Ripple, Kraken, Coinbase and BitGo to support the execution of institutional investment strategies using that stash. The intended deployment covers about 473 million XRP and is slated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026. Any later use of the ledger's native credit features is explicitly contingent on validator approval and reliable operation.
So two timelines are unfolding in parallel: Evernorth is readying strategies for its holdings, while the native lending functions are still in testing. A planned strategy launch should not be conflated with a confirmed switch-on of the credit protocol.
Speaking at Evernorth's exchange debut on Wednesday, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse pointed to possible yield strategies both on and off the blockchain, along with institutional investment products. He was describing avenues for development, not offerings already in place. Ripple framed its XRP contribution to Evernorth as part of its broader investment in blockchain ecosystems — an approach aimed at putting holdings to more active use rather than leaving them in custody alone.

Wallet Tooling Adds a Third Thread
The ledger's plumbing is expanding too. Ripple and Stripe-owned Privy announced an integration Wednesday that lets developers embed wallets directly into applications, enabling transfers of XRP, RLUSD and other assets issued there. That widens the ways the network can be used, but it is not evidence that XRP purchases have already picked up. ETF flows and new wallet infrastructure operate on different levels — one tracks capital moving through investment products, the other expands technical access. Weighing demand credibly means keeping those signals apart.
For XRP holders, the significance of the lending trials lies in that possible broadening of utility. What determines whether it becomes real is activation of the proposals and, after that, dependable operation. The announced treasury strategies supply a concrete use case; they do not prove a native XRP credit market is already running.
