XRP's Two Fronts: Record ETF Demand Meets a Quiet Infrastructure Sprint

The gap between where XRP trades and where institutional money is flowing has rarely looked wider. The token hovered near $1.40 on Sunday, consolidating in a tight band between $1.35 and $1.42 after a blistering run from sub-$1 levels to an intraday peak of $1.70 in a matter of days. The 1.2% daily gain does little to mask the underlying jitters that have gripped the market since last week's pullback.
Fund Flows Tell a Different Story
While spot traders wrestle with direction, the institutional bid for XRP exposure shows no signs of fatigue. The week of August 24-28 delivered net inflows of $110.49 million into XRP ETFs — the strongest weekly showing since December 2025. That pushed cumulative net inflows since the funds' inception to an all-time high of $1.66 billion.
Bitwise leads the pack with roughly $600 million in assets under management, trailed by Canary at $483 million and Franklin Templeton at just under $463 million. Bitwise also pulled an additional $15.4 million worth of XRP out of circulation on Sunday. Saturday alone saw $26.2 million flow into the funds, a day when Bitcoin ETFs were nursing outflows. The nine-day inflow streak continued on August 25 with approximately $23.87 million added.
The technical backdrop for these inflows is worth parsing. XRP sits about 23% above its 50-day moving average of $1.14 — a sign the near-term uptrend remains structurally intact despite recent losses. Over 30 days, the token is still up 29%, though it remains 24% lower year-to-date. The 200-week EMA around $1.37 looms as a key long-term trend marker that chart-focused investors are watching closely.
Whales, Warning Signs, and a $48 Million Bet
Large players have been anything but passive. One market participant opened a leveraged long position worth $48 million, while other wallets have accumulated several hundred million XRP over recent weeks.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?
Not everyone is convinced the path is clear. Analyst Steph Is Crypto points to echoes of a 2022 pattern and warns of a potential drop below the $1 mark if support at $1.30 gives way. The RSI reading of 65.6 hasn't flashed overheated territory yet, but it leaves limited headroom before technical warning signals start firing.
Ripple Prime Steps Into Equities
Away from the price chart, Ripple's institutional ambitions are broadening in a significant way. The company's prime brokerage arm, Ripple Prime, launched its delta-one business on Thursday, allowing institutional clients to execute total-return swaps on US-listed equities, indices, and digital assets for the first time. The offering targets hedge funds, market makers, and ETF issuers — a clientele traditionally anchored in conventional finance.
The move marks Ripple Prime's first foray into the equity space, according to Bloomberg. The division holds more than $1 billion in regulatory net capital. It recently completed an upsized private placement of unsecured senior notes totaling $275 million, following a $200 million credit facility secured from Neuberger Specialty Finance.
The infrastructure build-out extends to the ledger itself. The fixCleanup3_3_0 amendment cleared its validator threshold on Friday with 82.86% approval, triggering a two-week activation window. The upgrade could go live on the mainnet as early as September 11 — unless validator support slips to 80% or below, in which case the amendment fails and the 14-day clock resets.
This update is about stability rather than spectacle: it bundles fixes for Single Asset Vaults, the lending protocol, automated market makers, the permissioned DEX, checks, and pseudo-accounts. No new core features. The earlier 3.3.0 release in early August had already introduced private transfers, batch transactions, and sponsored fees aimed at enterprise clients.
Washington Casts a Long Shadow
The regulatory calendar remains the dominant risk factor. The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which would clarify the division of oversight between the SEC and CFTC, faces a Senate vote on September 15. Majority Leader John Thune filed the cloture motion after pressure from President Donald Trump.
XRP at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Market expectations have cratered. Polymarket odds on passage have fallen from 82% in February to roughly 14% now, while other reports put the probability below 20% from a peak of 58%. An ethics dispute involving Trump's crypto dealings has complicated matters, and community banks under the ICBA umbrella are pushing back against interest-bearing stablecoins, warning of a potential $1.3 trillion drain on traditional bank deposits.
Ripple's own stablecoin efforts are meanwhile gaining traction: RLUSD crossed $1 billion in circulation on the XRP Ledger over the weekend, and CEO Brad Garlinghouse has floated a doubling of corporate revenue by 2026.
For traders, the $1.42 level is the line in the sand. A daily close above it could open the door to targets around $1.66, while a break below $1.35 would invite fresh bearish scenarios. The week ahead carries two pivotal dates: the possible ledger activation on September 11 and the Senate vote four days later. XRP is down 5% on the week — a reminder that, for all the structural progress, Washington headlines still move this market more than any technical indicator.
