The gap between what is happening on the XRP Ledger and what is happening to XRP’s market price has rarely been wider. This week, a major asset manager launched a tokenized fund on the network, Hong Kong opened the door to retail trading, and the protocol itself underwent a technical upgrade — yet the token continues to drift lower, trading at $1.07 with a weekly loss of roughly 6%.

Aviva Investors, the British asset manager, received approval from the Central Bank of Ireland to list a tokenized share class of its US Dollar Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger. The structure is straightforward: on-chain tokens represent fund shares, while the underlying assets remain custodied off-chain with BNY Mellon. Komainu handles additional custody functions, and Licuido manages the technical tokenization. Aviva CEO Mark Versey described the move as a significant efficiency gain for the fund industry, while Ripple SVP Nigel Khakoo called it a precedent for other asset managers eyeing blockchain-based products.

The fund joins a growing pool of tokenized real-world assets on the XRP Ledger, which now totals roughly $4.37 billion. Of that sum, about $907 million comes from Ripple’s own stablecoin, RLUSD. Ripple President Monica Long noted that institutional demand for both XRP and RLUSD has reached record levels, though analyst Lark Davis cautioned that the typical delays in institutional onboarding — board approvals, compliance checks — mean the price impact often lags behind the announcement.

Ripple also disclosed an investment in Notabene, which operates one of the largest open networks for regulated on-chain transactions, connecting more than 2,300 institutions across roughly 100 jurisdictions and processing an estimated $2 trillion annually. Notabene plans to integrate RLUSD into its B2B payment platform. Ripple Payments itself processed nearly $16 trillion in 2025, underscoring how the company’s?? has shifted toward payments and stablecoin infrastructure rather than relying solely on XRP trading volumes.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?

On the technical side, the XRP Ledger activated the fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment this week with 85.71% validator approval — 30 of 35 eligible nodes voted in favor. The software version XRPL 3.2.0 now becomes the minimum standard, and nodes that fail to update risk exclusion from the network. While the amendment itself is primarily a protocol maintenance measure, it lays the groundwork for future features such as single-asset vaults, a lending module, and a permissioned decentralized exchange, all designed to attract further institutional use.

Across Asia, OSL Digital Securities in Hong Kong launched the first licensed retail trading of XRP under the territory’s securities regulator. XRP now joins Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana on the list of tokens available to retail investors in Hong Kong, with OSL offering XRP/USD and XRP/HKD trading pairs and backed by $1 billion in custody insurance.

Yet the institutional progress has done little to lift the token’s price. XRP remains 68.13% below its all-time high of $3.37, reached last August. The 50-day moving average sits at $1.11, and the relative strength index at 42.1 points to weak but not yet oversold momentum. The distance to the 52-week low of $1.01, touched in late June, is a slim 5.5%.

Several headwinds have weighed on sentiment. The US Federal Reserve held interest rates steady at 3.5% to 3.75%, though three members of the Open Market Committee voted for a 25-basis-point hike. The crypto market initially reacted positively but reversed course after the US military reported fresh strikes on targets in Iran, dragging down equities and digital assets alike. Meanwhile, the US Senate put the Clarity Act on hold before the summer recess — legislation that could have classified XRP as a commodity for regulatory purposes. That catalyst is now off the table for the foreseeable future.

Adding to the caution, Grayscale CEO Peter Mintzberg sold 2,611 units of the Grayscale XRP Trust ETF for roughly $53,400, his first such sale since acquiring the shares in late 2024. He still holds about 2.84 million units, but the sale comes as inflows into the seven US spot-based XRP ETFs have slowed markedly.

XRP at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

Chart analysts are split. Some point to narrowing Bollinger Bands and neutralized exchange deposit behavior as potential precursors to a recovery, while others warn of a drop to $0.80 to $0.90 if key support levels break. The $1.10 mark is seen as the immediate resistance — a sustained breakout could open the path to $1.14 and then targets around $1.19 to $1.23. Standard Chartered, despite the recent weakness, maintains a year-end price target of $2.80.

For now, the market appears to be weighing two competing narratives: an infrastructure build-out that is arguably the most advanced in XRP’s history, and a macro and regulatory environment that has yet to deliver the breakthrough many investors were counting on.
