XRP Climbs 4% as Fund Outflows and a Pending Ledger Vote Pull in Different Directions
Published on 10/19/2026 at 11:41 | Editorial boerse-global.deXRP advanced 4.0% today, riding a friendlier tone across crypto markets rather than any fresh, coin-specific headline. Reports point to falling US Treasury yields and easing selling pressure on technology assets as the backdrop, with several large altcoins also gaining. The move belongs to a broader market swing, not to a single XRP development.
That distinction matters, because the news flow around the token is genuinely mixed. Exchange-traded funds have just broken a long inflow run, a protocol change on the XRP Ledger is waiting on validator support, and Ripple's latest partnerships touch infrastructure and a stablecoin — none of which automatically translates into extra demand for XRP itself.
The ETF streak ends
US spot XRP ETFs recorded combined net outflows of $1.84 million in the week through October 16, according to a media report published yesterday. The reversal closed out a run of 13 consecutive weeks of inflows. On October 16 alone, net outflows reached $2.47 million — a single session that was more negative than the entire weekly tally.
For investors, the counter-move is significant: today's price recovery does not coincide with a continuing weekly inflow series at those funds, so on its own it offers no proof of renewed demand through that channel.
A patch clears the bar, credit tools do not
On the ledger side, attention centers on the planned protocol amendment fixCleanup3_4_0, which is set to carry protocol corrections. As of yesterday's count, 30 of 36 trusted validators backed the change, putting support above the required threshold of 29 votes. Activation had been expected for October 23, 2026, at around 09:34 UTC — conditional on that backing holding through the mandated two-week window. The date is therefore not an unconditional commitment.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?
Separate proposals for credit functionality are a different story. The standalone LendingProtocol and SingleAssetVault amendments remain below their voting thresholds, according to a report from Saturday. Progress on the cleanup amendment says nothing about when those lending features might become available, and the vote itself is an interim step rather than a completed network overhaul.
One technical measure is already done: per the XRP Ledger's security report, fixBatchV1_2 went live on the mainnet on October 9, closing a disclosed vulnerability in the validation of inner batch transactions. The report also cites a fixed XRP overflow bug, and notes that older servers must update to xrpld 3.4.1 or newer to stay in sync. Those security fixes are separate from the amendments still short of support.
Partnerships build rails, not necessarily token bids
Infrastructure for applications on the ledger keeps expanding in parallel. On Wednesday, Ripple and Stripe-owned Privy agreed to support XRP Ledger wallets within Privy's developer offering, letting developers embed wallets directly into payment applications. Transactions in XRP, RLUSD and other network assets will be supported.
The same day brought word of a Ripple–DriveWealth collaboration integrating Ripple's stablecoin infrastructure, including RLUSD on the XRP Ledger, for settlements in Europe, with expansion to the US planned. DriveWealth is also integrating Ripple Payments for cross-border financing. Separately, Ripple and Meritz Securities will explore the use of Ripple Custody and Ripple's tokenization infrastructure in South Korea's capital markets — with no stated obligation to buy or use XRP.
These initiatives concern concrete access and payment services. They are neither a green light for the outstanding credit features nor evidence that every new application immediately requires XRP.
Demand remains its own test
Technical progress and institutional appetite do not move in lockstep, and the fund data underscores the gap. The next confirmable step on the network is the possible activation of the amendment that already has sufficient backing. Anything beyond that will require the separate votes to reach the necessary support first.
