XPeng's Overseas Surge Cuts Both Ways as Europe Build-Out Takes Shape
Published on 10/18/2026 at 19:30 | Editorial boerse-global.deXPeng's international order book is filling up faster than its ability to convert that interest into revenue. Middle East demand for the GX sport utility vehicle has picked up meaningfully since exports of the model began in August, with the company reporting larger deliveries into the region and Africa. It has not disclosed volumes or specific destination markets.
What is clear is the model's growing weight at home: GX deliveries reached 7,224 vehicles in September. The SUV is offered both as a pure battery-electric vehicle and with a range extender. Yet the absence of international pricing and confirmed delivery dates leaves investors unable to model the revenue those orders will eventually generate — the reported demand is a positive sales signal, not a basis for concrete top-line assumptions.
Exports Outpace a Shrinking Home Base
The overseas numbers tell a more striking story. XPeng delivered 10,055 vehicles outside China in September, a 100.94% jump from the same month a year earlier. Chief executive He Xiaopeng expects international sales to exceed 40,000 units in the fourth quarter of 2026.
That growth stands in sharp contrast to the broader picture. Total deliveries from January to September 2026 came to 284,367 vehicles, down 9.20% year on year. International markets now account for 20.92% of group deliveries. The divergence shows that overseas expansion has so far failed to fully offset weakness elsewhere — a gap investors will be watching closely.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XPeng?
A European Foothold, Built in Graz
Alongside the export push, XPeng is deepening its European roots. He aims to sell one million vehicles a year worldwide by 2030, roughly half of them in Europe, according to Bloomberg. Local manufacturing is meant to underpin that ambition. The company is in talks with Magna about additional production in Austria and is reviewing further European sites, though no specific investments have been confirmed. Magna's Graz plant already builds several XPeng models, and the G9L has completed trial production there.
That manufacturing milestone should not be confused with series production. XPeng unveiled the G9L in Europe on 12 October, after the model wrapped its first production test at Graz on 7 October. The announced entry price in France is EUR 74,990.
Software and Services Round Out the Push
The European offensive pairs vehicle marketing with driver-assistance software. XPeng has linked the G9L launch to public test drives of its Navigation Guided Pilot system. According to media reports, the head of the company's general intelligence division said on 12 October that XPeng had adapted its assistance software to European requirements within two weeks, and that the company is working with European regulators on a rollout next year. A technical adaptation, however, is not the same as a market launch — the vehicle offering and the software introduction should be assessed separately.
On the digital side, XPeng announced native integration of Google Play into its vehicles on Thursday, with the service slated to go live in early 2027 — a planned expansion of its in-car offering rather than a feature available today. In China, meanwhile, the company opened pre-sales for the MONA L05, priced between RMB 169,800 and RMB 191,800, with the official market launch set for 29 October.
XPeng at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
A Stock Move Without a Company Story
None of that insulated the shares from the wider market. XPeng fell 4.3% on Friday amid a weak technology backdrop, with media reports pointing to a broad selloff in US tech stocks weighing on sentiment. No specific link to XPeng has been established.
The sector itself remains challenging. Media reports cite subsidy cuts, price wars and overcapacity concerns weighing on China's electric vehicle industry, alongside possible European restrictions on Chinese EV imports. For XPeng, the dividing line runs between announced offerings and their execution. The imminent MONA L05 launch offers a firm date to anchor expectations; in Europe, attention centers on G9L marketing, the planned assistance-software rollout and cooperation with regulators. The next hard evidence for the GX will be firm pricing and delivery timelines — only then can investors judge how much the new Middle East demand will contribute to the company's overseas growth targets.
