Volatus Aerospace's Québec Factory and GPS-Free Autopilot Push Toward Commercial Orders
Published on 10/05/2026 at 16:25 | Editorial boerse-global.deVolatus Aerospace is stacking up operational milestones on two fronts at once — the factory floor and the flight controller — as the Canadian unmanned-systems specialist works to convert engineering wins into a book of binding commercial business. The stock changed hands at 0,3530 Euro on Monday, up 1,6 percent, giving the company a market capitalization of 250,03 Millionen Euro.
At the heart of the industrial build-out is a 53.000 Quadratfuß facility in Mirabel, Québec, which Volatus opened a little over a week ago. Drone docking stations are already rolling off the line there, and the site also handles assembly and system integration for the company's own V-series aircraft and other autonomous platforms. By putting manufacturing and systems integration under one roof, Volatus is moving beyond pure development and integration work into standardized production, a shift meant to shorten delivery times while keeping quality control tight on complex hardware. How fully those new floors get utilized will depend on how many of the units built there actually reach field deployment.
Autonomy Without Satellites
Running in parallel is the control-software story. Roughly two weeks ago, Volatus reported the first flight tests of V-Cortex, its AI flight controller and autonomy operating system. The trials showed the platform can guide unmanned aircraft without global navigation satellite systems, without external sensors and without external high-performance computers — navigation handled entirely by onboard sensors. That independence from outside radio signals matters most in jammed environments or demanding industrial sites. The Canada-developed system is slated for further flight tests and demonstrations during 2026.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Volatus Aerospace?
An FAA Exemption and a Public Comment Window
Beyond hardware and software, Volatus is pressing ahead in the United States. Subsidiary Volatus Aerospace US Corp has filed an exemption request with the FAA to operate the FB3 unmanned system made by FlyingBasket SRL. The sought approval covers demonstration flights, external-load transport, cargo missions and support for telecommunications infrastructure. The window for public comments on the filing closes on 6. Oktober 2026.
On the analyst side, Desjardins reportedly issued a buy rating on Volatus shares on 23. September, with a price target of C$0,90.
Between the Mirabel ramp-up, the validation of its own autonomy stack and the pending regulatory docket, Volatus now touches several key links of the value chain. What remains decisive for the equity is how far those capacities and technical advances translate into firm commercial contracts — and how the announced test series play out over the rest of the year.
