Volatus Aerospace Opens Québec Factory as Satellite-Free Flight Tech Clears First Hurdle
Published on 09/30/2026 at 16:31 | Editorial boerse-global.deVolatus Aerospace has crossed a line that separates slide decks from shop floors. The Canadian drone specialist officially inaugurated a 53,000-square-foot manufacturing and systems integration facility in Mirabel, Québec, on Tuesday, converting years of development promises into physical assembly capacity.
Production of drone docking stations is already underway at the site. The plant is also configured to handle integration and manufacturing of the company's V-Series aircraft alongside other autonomous systems, bringing core production and assembly steps under one roof. Beyond complete flight systems, the facility supports the integration of sub-assemblies and accessories — infrastructure Volatus describes as the operational backbone for executing existing and future orders.
V-Cortex Passes Its First Real-World Test
The factory opening lands roughly a week after Volatus reported successful initial flight trials of V-Cortex, its AI flight controller and autonomy operating system. During those tests, the system demonstrated navigation without reliable satellite signals, relying entirely on onboard sensors and external navigation aids playing no part.
That capability — GNSS-denied navigation — carries particular weight in civil and industrial aviation, where GPS signals are frequently jammed, spoofed, or blocked by terrain and structures. Volatus has scheduled further trials and demonstrations of the V-Cortex platform throughout 2026. The pairing of in-house software with Mirabel's production lines is intended to form the foundation for future contracts.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Volatus Aerospace?
A Stock the Market Hasn't Rewarded
Equity markets have greeted the operational milestones with restraint. Volatus carries a market capitalization of EUR 261.80 million, with shares changing hands at EUR 0.3490. That level sits 37 percent below the stock's 52-week high.
Tuesday's session closed at EUR 0.3485, a daily decline of 1.8 percent, extending the weekly loss to 12 percent.
The disconnect raises a question investors will spend the coming months answering: can the new plant deliver the leverage for durable growth? In the current phase, the market is demanding hard evidence of shipped units and profitable scaling. Production capacity in Mirabel is a necessary condition — not a guarantee of commercial success.
Attention now shifts to whether Volatus can fill those Québec halls with additional orders at pace, and how potential customers respond to the upcoming V-Cortex demonstrations. Until then, the shares remain a wager on a niche industrial manufacturer ramping up on schedule.
