Vertiv Locks Down Chip Supply as Its Order Book Runs at Triple-Digit Growth
Published on 11/08/2026 at 06:11 | Editorial boerse-global.deVertiv shares closed at €163.88 on Friday, adding 4.1% as AI and data-centre names staged a broader recovery. AP attributed the move to a counter-rally following a sharp selloff that had dragged the wider market lower. Barron's tied the advance to the same sector-wide swing, noting that the earlier retreat came after the US midterm elections on worries that political resistance could slow data-centre construction.
For all the noise around sector sentiment, the more durable story sits beneath the daily tape. Vertiv is pairing rapid growth with a deliberate effort to secure long-term access to the power semiconductors its products depend on — a combination that offers a firmer basis for judging the stock than the mood of the sector on any given day.
A three-year handshake with Infineon
On Wednesday, Vertiv and Infineon Technologies unveiled a three-year strategic partnership aimed at underpinning the company's long-term supply of silicon and silicon-carbide power components. The agreement covers parts for Vertiv's next-generation 800 VDC power systems, among other products.
The timing matters because of how fast the underlying business is expanding. Vertiv's third-quarter 2026 results, published on 28 October, showed revenue of $4.31 billion — a 61% jump on the prior-year period. Adjusted diluted earnings per share came in at $2.21, up 78%, while diluted EPS on a reported basis reached $1.95, a gain of 91%. Organic order intake more than doubled year on year.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Vertiv?
That kind of momentum sharpens the question of whether Vertiv can secure the technical prerequisites for further deliveries. The Infineon tie-up addresses exactly that piece of the puzzle.
Guidance raised across the board
Alongside the quarterly figures, Vertiv lifted its full-year 2026 outlook across its key metrics. Management now points to net revenue of between $14,450 million and $14,850 million for the year as a whole.
The company has also been active on the acquisition front. On 27 October it completed the purchase of Utility Innovation Holdings, also known as UtilityInnovation Group, for an initial cash consideration of roughly $1.5 billion, with potential additional contingent cash payments of up to $1.15 billion. Separately, Vertiv closed its acquisition of King Environmental Services, extending its fluid-management, commissioning and load-testing services into Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Vertiv at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
What actually matters for the equity
Taken together, the picture is one of strong operational footing — provided Vertiv can keep converting demand into revenue and profit. Political headwinds to new data-centre builds could weigh on the sector if they slow construction, even as the company's own numbers point to robust underlying appetite.
The Infineon partnership tackles one part of that equation: access to the components Vertiv needs for its power-supply products. That is a more concrete yardstick than how much enthusiasm the AI theme generates on any single trading day.
