The relentless march of Europe's most popular global equity ETF shows no sign of slowing. Vanguard's FTSE All-World UCITS ETF (IE00BK5BQT80) has pulled in more than $16bn of fresh capital since the start of the year, swelling its assets under management to roughly $75bn — a figure the firm puts at $76.8bn in its most recent tally.

That torrid pace of accumulation has been turbocharged by a fee-cutting campaign that has reshaped the fund's economics. The latest reduction, which took effect on 28 July, trimmed the ongoing charge from 0.19% to 0.14%, following an earlier cut from 0.22% in October 2025. Vanguard calculates the cumulative reduction at 36.4% in under a year, with investors saving an estimated $37m annually. Across its entire product range, the firm says fee cuts over the past 24 months have saved clients more than $80m in total.

The Virtuous Circle of Scale

For a passive fund whose sole mandate is tracking the FTSE All-World Index as precisely as possible, the expense ratio is the decisive competitive weapon. Every basis point shaved off the fee narrows the tracking gap between fund and index — a compounding advantage that grows more meaningful with each passing year. The latest cut applies automatically to existing holders, requiring no action on their part.

The dynamic feeds on itself: a larger asset base allows Vanguard to pass on economies of scale to investors, which in turn attracts more capital. The accumulating share class, which automatically reinvests dividends rather than distributing them, holds particular appeal for long-term wealth builders. July alone saw the firm's entire UCITS ETF range collect $7.7bn net, with $6.1bn flowing into its equity lineup — the All-World fund remaining the heavyweight of that franchise.

Near Record Highs

The market has rewarded this momentum. The fund's shares closed Wednesday at €166.72, roughly 2.1% below the 52-week high of €170.24 set on 13 August. Year-to-date, the ETF has gained 15%, a figure that mirrors the broad recovery in global equities and helps explain why investors keep piling in even as prices climb.

The fund's strategy remains unchanged: it offers exposure to both developed and emerging markets in a single wrapper, making it one of the cheapest broad-based entry points to global equities available to European investors. No structural alterations to the index composition or fresh analyst assessments have emerged recently — the news flow has been dominated entirely by cost developments and inflows.

Expanding the Family

Just over a week ago, on 20 August, Vanguard broadened its European UCITS lineup with three new global equity products: the FTSE Global All-Cap, FTSE Global Small-Cap, and FTSE All-World ex-US ETFs. While these newcomers don't alter the core proposition for existing All-World holders, they signal the firm's intent to deepen its footprint in Europe's passive market — and to cater to investors seeking to tilt away from US exposure or target small-cap segments specifically.

With its status as Europe's largest FTSE All-World ETF firmly intact, the fund continues to anchor portfolios across the continent. The combination of falling costs, an expanding product shelf, and relentless inflows suggests that Vanguard's flagship has become not just a default choice, but a structural one.
