For a company whose stock has shed 38 percent of its value since January, the messaging coming out of Beijing's World Robot Conference this week marks a notable shift in tone. Rather than unveiling yet another batch of prototype concepts, Ubtech Robotics chose to lead with something far more tangible: hard sales numbers.

The Shenzhen-based group said it had sold 1,079 humanoid robots during 2025, generating revenue of 820 million yuan from those deliveries. Group-wide turnover for the year surpassed the 2 billion yuan threshold. It is a deliberate pivot away from the pure technology narrative that has long dominated the company's investor communications, towards a more commercially grounded story.

That story is bolstered by the names attached to it. Ubtech disclosed that Huawei and Foxconn have both begun sourcing robots for their production lines this year. A separate project — an unmanned sorting system developed jointly with a listed logistics firm — is already operational with customers in South Korea and Australia.

Silicon Carbide Alliance and a War for Talent

Alongside the sales disclosure, Ubtech announced a strategic tie-up with chipmaker BASiC Semiconductor. The pair will collaborate on silicon carbide power semiconductors for humanoid robots, with the aim of producing drive electronics robust enough for what the industry calls embodied intelligence platforms — machines that physically interact with their surroundings.

The conference also served as a launchpad for several new models spanning industrial, commercial and consumer use cases, among them the Cruzr Y1, Walker C1 and U1. The Walker C1, a service robot designed for reception areas and public spaces, drew particular attention.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Ubtech Robotics?

Competition for the engineers building these machines is evidently fierce. Jiao Jichao, the company's vice president for embodied intelligence, revealed that Ubtech is paying PhD graduates in the field annual salaries of 1.5 million yuan, with top candidates commanding between 3 million and 5 million yuan.

A Packed Corporate Calendar

The product announcements land in the middle of a week heavy with corporate governance. On Wednesday, Ubtech holds its third extraordinary general meeting of the year in Shenzhen. Shareholders will vote by poll on new bank credit facilities, an incentive scheme for H-shares aimed at retaining key personnel, and a proposal to redirect proceeds from earlier share issuances towards current projects.

Friday brings the interim report for the first half of 2026. Investors will be looking for evidence that the order figures and partnerships touted on the conference stage are translating into the financial statements, and for clarity on how deeply research and development spending is cutting into the balance sheet.

Sector Rally Passes the Stock By

The announcements come at a moment when humanoid robotics enjoys broad attention as an investment theme. Market commentators have cast Ubtech as a beneficiary of a sector-wide rally ignited by the Shanghai listing of rival Unitree Robotics. The company has also been named as a likely winner from the AGIC and GERX trade fairs scheduled for Shenzhen from 26 to 28 August 2026.

Yet that tailwind has done little for Ubtech's own share price. The stock closed Tuesday at 8.94 euros, up 2.4 percent on the day, but still down 5.5 percent over the past seven trading sessions. It sits barely 5 percent above its 52-week low of 8.50 euros, reached at the end of July.

The recent bounce follows a difficult stretch. Last Thursday, Unitree's initial public offering triggered a sector-wide sell-off as investors rotated capital into the newly listed competitor. Wednesday's 3.0 percent gain to 8.99 euros offered some respite, but the year-to-date deficit remains steep.

Whether the conference momentum and the interim numbers due on Friday can break the downward trend is the question hanging over the stock. The half-year report, covering the period to 30 June 2026, will be the first real test of whether the growth story has substance behind it — or whether it remains, for now, a promise rather than a proof.
