Ubtech Robotics Pins Its Hopes on Order Book as Interim Results Loom
Published on 08/27/2026 at 18:52 | Editorial boerse-global.deThe gap between announcement and execution has rarely been wider for Ubtech Robotics. The Shenzhen-based humanoid robot maker has spent the past month layering partnership upon partnership, product launch upon product launch, yet the share price tells a more cautious story — one that Friday's interim results will either vindicate or expose.
At the centre of investor attention is the U1, the hyperbionic humanoid unveiled at the World Robot Conference in Peking. Management says the series, which only began taking orders in June, has already accumulated more than 13,000 bookings through distribution channels, with first deliveries slated for 16 September. Whether those orders convert into recognised revenue in the half-year numbers remains the open question.
A Partner of Many Stripes
The U1 order pipeline sits alongside a widening web of industrial alliances. Most recently, Ubtech deepened its relationship with Hitachi, which has introduced the Walker S2 humanoid into selected manufacturing environments. The deployment follows a strategic cooperation agreement struck in mid-July, and the collaboration now spans lifts, building technology, healthcare, industrial plant and semiconductor fabrication equipment. The Hitachi China Research Institute has joined forces with Ubtech and Hitachi Elevator on secondary development for the elevator production line.
That breadth is deliberate. Only days earlier, at the same Peking conference, Ubtech signed a strategic deal with BASiC Semiconductor focused on silicon carbide power components for embodied-intelligence robots, with plans to put Ubtech machines directly on BASiC's own production lines. The METAX joint venture, Xixuan Chuangzhi, adds another layer: edge chips designed for the robot body itself, with tape-out scheduled for next year and mass production the year after.
The pattern is clear — Ubtech is recruiting reference customers across disparate industries rather than betting on a single vertical. What is less clear is the commercial substance: no unit volumes or contract values have been disclosed for either the Hitachi or BASiC agreements.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Ubtech Robotics?
The Numbers on the Board
The market's scepticism is quantifiable. The stock closed Wednesday at €9.15, up 2.4 per cent on the day and 3.1 per cent over the past month — a modest stabilisation after a bruising period. But the year-to-date decline stands at 36 per cent, and the shares remain 46 per cent below January's 52-week high of €17.00. The 52-week low of €8.50 was set as recently as late July; at €9.22 in recent trading, the stock sits roughly 8.4 per cent above that floor. Technical indicators point to neither oversold nor overbought conditions, with the RSI at 44.3 suggesting a market waiting for direction.
Part of the recent pressure is external. The initial public offering of rival Unitree Robotics prompted investors to rotate capital into the new industry name, weighing on established players like Ubtech.
A Board Meeting With Consequences
The board convenes on Friday to review and approve the half-year figures for the six months to 30 June 2026, a date flagged in mid-August. For shareholders, this is the first hard look at whether the partnership announcements carry revenue weight or remain letters of intent with optionality.
Governance matters are also in motion. An extraordinary general meeting in Shenzhen addressed bank credit lines, revised use of proceeds and a new share incentive scheme for H-shares — housekeeping that matters, but hardly the stuff of rallies.
The product roadmap, meanwhile, keeps moving: the Walker S series is slated to evolve into the Walker S3 generation in the second half of 2026, and the conference also brought the industrial Cruzr Y1 and the commercial service robot Walker C1. The company's communication has shifted noticeably toward orders and follow-on demand.
Whether that shift convinces the market on Friday is another matter. The 13,000 U1 orders are a number investors can hold onto; the Hitachi and BASiC deals remain, for now, promises of future revenue rather than proof of it.
