Ubtech Robotics has picked up first prize at the Guangdong Science and Technology Progress Award 2025, with a joint research project on cooperative robot perception and decision-making taking the honours. The work centres on machines that collaborate with one another in complex, dynamic environments — a step beyond the single-robot demonstrations that have dominated the sector's marketing.

Ubtech served as the lead entity for the industrial rollout of the joint project, according to Wednesday media reports. The team behind it now intends to push testing into the inspection of nuclear power facilities, warehouse logistics and smart manufacturing, giving the research a concrete set of deployment targets rather than a purely academic sheen.

Xinhua Anchors Blend Newsroom AI With Ubtech Hardware

The company's public-facing profile got a separate boost on Thursday, when Ubtech and the Xinhua news agency unveiled two jointly developed humanoid news anchors, Xinyan and Xinyu. Xinhua said it holds the independent intellectual property rights to the robots, which are designed to present news bulletins and support real-time interaction with audiences. The reveal took place at the World Media Summit.

Reporting on the project describes a pairing of Xinhua's newsroom AI with Ubtech's robot hardware. Both models are billed as full-body bionic humanoids. It is the kind of showcase that puts Ubtech's actuators and frames in front of a global media audience, even if the commercial terms behind the collaboration remain undisclosed.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Ubtech Robotics?

Thinker-Sim Targets Embodied AI Training

Simulation is the third leg of the company's recent activity. Ubtech introduced its Thinker-Sim platform on 2 November, built around a Real2Sim2Real approach — digitising real-world environments, generating synthetic data from them and then evaluating robot capabilities before anything is deployed. The offering is aimed squarely at embodied artificial intelligence development, where training data is scarce and physical testing is expensive.

The platform's scope runs from transferring real scenes into simulation through to the subsequent assessment of robot skills. For Ubtech, it is a bet that the software layer around its hardware can become a business in its own right.

Employee Scheme Adds Roughly 2 Million H-Shares

On the capital side, the share issuance for the employee incentive programme was completed just over a week ago. Ubtech issued approximately 2 million new H-shares to a trustee, fulfilling awards granted on 14 September to three directors and 360 employees. Following the allotment, the total number of issued shares stood at around 505 million, according to a regulatory filing.

In its monthly securities return submitted on Monday, Ubtech confirmed it meets the free-float requirements. The company reported no issuance of H-shares under the incentive programme for October.

A Friday market report floated possible dilution concerns tied to the issuance, alongside profit-taking after a rally, as explanations for weakness in the stock. That reading was an interpretation of market moves, not a cause confirmed by the company.
