Shares of TKMS closed Friday's session at 83.30 euros, up 3.5%, as a brighter mood across European defence names did the heavy lifting. No company-specific catalyst drove the move, according to media reports — instead, a bullish sector study from Morgan Stanley published earlier in the week had investors revisiting the armoury, and TKMS tagged along for the ride.

The advance extends a strong run: the stock has climbed 26% since the start of the year, underpinned by Germany's security-policy pivot and steady funding commitments for naval projects at home and among NATO allies.

Kepler Cheuvreux Trims Target but Keeps the Faith

Analysts at Kepler Cheuvreux used the rally to recalibrate their valuation of the Kiel-based shipbuilder, cutting their price target to 95 euros from 102 euros. The broker stopped well short of turning cautious, however, retaining its buy rating — a signal that it still sees upside from current levels. The revision reflects a reworking of medium- and long-term valuation models rather than any deterioration in the operating picture, which remains buttressed by a hefty order backlog from domestic and international customers.

Berlin's Second Batch Lifts Frigate Programme to Eight Hulls

That backlog received its most significant boost from the Bundestag's budget committee, which greenlit the procurement of four additional MEKO A-200 DEU frigates. The follow-on order doubles the programme to eight vessels — a package TKMS describes as the largest surface-warship contract in its corporate history.

Figures attached to the deal have circulated with some variation. The Bundesfinanzministerium put the construction contract for the four extra units at 5.3 billion euros, while media reports citing finance-ministry documents have pegged the second tranche at roughly 5.6 billion euros. Either way, the full eight-ship programme carries a total volume of around 11.6 billion euros.

The approval keeps the serial production line running without interruption, shoring up shipyard capacity for years and pulling the broader German maritime supply chain into the effort. On timing, FOCUS reported that TKMS intends to hand over the first of the new frigates by the end of 2029, with subsequent vessels following at a cadence of roughly nine months — a drumbeat that promises economies of scale and dependable utilisation through the coming production years.

December Report Takes Centre Stage

With the frigate decision having settled the medium-term workload question, attention now shifts to the numbers. TKMS has scheduled publication of its annual financial report for 7 December 2026, when investors will be watching closely for how the swollen order book translates into financial metrics and forward earnings guidance. For shareholders, the timely industrial execution of the frigate ramp-up remains the decisive variable for future margin development.
