Take-Two Interactive heads toward its November 9 second-quarter earnings report carrying an unusual mix of tailwinds and loose ends. A fresh Sensor Tower estimate puts digital preorders for GTA VI at 6.45 million copies, Goldman Sachs has reiterated a Buy rating with a $285 price target, and Bank of America Securities stands even more bullish at $368. Yet the PC version of the game remains unconfirmed, and none of these figures come from the company itself.

The preorder tally, released today, offers the clearest demand signal yet. PlayStation accounts for 74% of digital preorders, with Xbox taking 26%; physical copies are excluded from the count. According to GamesIndustry.biz, the majority of orders are for the $100 Ultimate Edition. The planned release date stays November 19, with Rockstar launching first on PlayStation 5 and current Xbox consoles.

What the estimate does not do is answer how demand will hold once the game is actually on shelves. Sensor Tower's figure is an independent projection, not a Rockstar or Take-Two disclosure, and should be read alongside official sales data rather than in place of it. The split between editions matters too, since it shapes the revenue mix behind each unit sold.

Morgan Stanley analyst Matthew Cost is looking well past launch. He models roughly 40 million copies sold in fiscal 2027, a period ending in March 2027 that captures only the first months after release. Should sales outrun that forecast, Cost sees meaningful upside leverage to Take-Two's earnings. The flip side is a high bar: a strong debut alone may not surprise anyone if expectations are already this steep.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Take-Two Interactive?

For scale, GTA 5 moved 29 million units in its first month and has now sold 230 million cumulatively. That history explains the lofty targets for the sequel without guaranteeing a repeat. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has noted that more than 90% of sales now happen digitally, and he has voiced cautious optimism about GTA VI preorders specifically.

The analyst community is positive but focused on different horizons. Goldman Sachs confirmed its Buy rating on Monday, according to media reports, judging GTA VI demand strong despite concerns about preorder trends—a stance that leaves those worries intact while declining to read them as weak overall demand. Bank of America's Omar Dessouky took a longer view on October 15, reaffirming his Buy rating and $368 target on the strength of GTA VI Online's long-term monetization potential. One argument rests on near-term demand, the other on revenue years down the road; neither substitutes for reported results.

Uncertainty has also arrived from the rumor mill. On October 13, PC Gamer picked up a claim that a PC version was slated for the first quarter of 2027—a window Take-Two has never confirmed. Coverage at the time linked the share price dip to both that reported timeframe and renewed leak worries, but no verified change to the release schedule has emerged. The distinction between company statements and reports about possible dates remains central to any valuation work.

Take-Two Interactive at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

The November 9 report, announced about a week ago, is the next scheduled checkpoint for testing expectations against hard numbers. Until then, bullish calls sit beside open questions on preorder momentum, and the optimistic case leans on anticipated demand and future monetization. That is precisely why confirmed results deserve more weight than unverified release windows: they are the sturdier ground on which to judge Take-Two.
