Super Micro Rebounds 6.2% as Oppenheimer Upgrade Reinforces Bull Case
Published on 11/08/2026 at 04:44 | Editorial boerse-global.deSuper Micro Computer shares climbed 6.2% on Friday to close at $28.76, riding a broader recovery in AI server stocks that clawed back part of the losses suffered after the US midterm elections. According to CNBC, the selloff that preceded the rebound had been tied to concerns that Democratic election gains could slow data center construction — fears that weighed most heavily on Texas. The bounce, in other words, unfolded against a backdrop where political expectations for infrastructure buildout had been dragging on sentiment.
The recovery, however, is only part of the story. A busier signal came earlier in the week, when Oppenheimer upgraded Super Micro to "Outperform" on Wednesday — a vote of confidence that followed Tuesday's quarterly results and raised guidance. The analysts' move added another layer to a week in which the company unveiled both stronger business expectations and a technical collaboration.
Two Houses, Two Verdicts
Raymond James lifted its price target on Super Micro from $48 to $65 on Wednesday, reaffirming its "Outperform" rating after the quarterly numbers. Bank of America also raised its target that same day, though only from $38 to $39, while keeping its "Underperform" rating — a stance that still implies below-average performance ahead. The two houses moved in the same direction on targets but remain divided on the investment case itself.
The Bar Is Set by the Company Itself
For the second quarter of fiscal 2027, Super Micro projected revenue of between $19.5 billion and $21.5 billion — a range that Reuters linked to robust demand for AI-optimized servers, noting the forecast came in above Wall Street expectations. That figure now stands as a clearly defined test for the next reporting period.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Super Micro Computer?
The first quarter of fiscal 2027, reported Tuesday, showed revenue of $19.95 billion and adjusted earnings per share of $1.81. Alongside those results, the company raised its full-year revenue outlook. For fiscal 2027, Super Micro now expects revenue of between $72.0 billion and $82.0 billion — a range that sets the company's own benchmark for the quarters ahead.
What makes the setup notable is that the AI enthusiasm surrounding the stock now meets concrete revenue targets. The more those expectations shape the valuation, the more their delivery matters.
A Technical Argument to Match the Financial One
Thursday's announcement with IBM and NVIDIA rounds out the picture. The jointly validated KV-cache solution for AI inference combines Supermicro storage servers with IBM software and NVIDIA's inference and networking technology. In joint tests using inputs of 130,000 tokens, the company said the time to first token was cut by a factor of up to 56 — a gain tied to those specific test conditions.
That collaboration gives Super Micro a tangible technical argument within the AI trend, provided the demonstrated performance advantages hold up in real-world deployment.
The yardstick for the stock therefore runs on two levels: technical capability and delivered business expectations. Oppenheimer's upgrade fits that optimism — but it becomes sustainable only if Super Micro backs its own outlook with results.
