Siemens Wins Taiwan Metro Signaling Mandate as Buyback Passes 5.5 Million Shares
Published on 11/06/2026 at 15:11 | Editorial boerse-global.deSiemens Mobility has landed a contract from ST Engineering to equip two metro lines in Taiwan, the company said, adding rail signaling work to a busy stretch of corporate news that also includes a stock buyback update, a long-term lease renewal in Düsseldorf, and a leadership nod for its lab-technology offerings.
The order covers signaling and train supervision for Taoyuan's Brown Line and the extension of the Green Line. The Brown Line spans roughly eleven kilometers and eight stations, with service slated to begin in the mid-2030s. Siemens will deploy its Signaling X platform alongside GoA4 automation, meaning the equipment is built for fully driverless operation.
Buyback tally crosses 5.5 million
Separately, Siemens reported in its interim buyback disclosure on Monday that it repurchased 359,920 of its own shares between October 26 and November 1 inclusive. Since the program began on July 1, the company has bought back a total of 5,578,027 shares.
The next confirmed date on the financial calendar is November 12, when Siemens will publish fourth-quarter results together with preliminary figures for fiscal year 2026. The release is scheduled for 07:00 CET.

Healthineers brand shift tied to spin-off path
Siemens Healthineers announced on Tuesday that it will shorten its name to Healthineers, a move Siemens places within its planned spin-off and deconsolidation process. The rebrand still requires approval from the Healthineers shareholders' meeting. The name change is set to begin in 2027 and run over three years, though shareholder consent remains a precondition.
Lab recognition and a Düsseldorf extension
In a Wednesday announcement, Siemens said IDC MarketScape ranked it a "Leader" among technology and consulting providers for life-sciences research laboratories for 2026. The company pointed to a vaccine project with GSK as a showcase: working alongside Atos, Siemens helped cut the number of physical experiments by 25 percent.
The same day brought word that Siemens has extended the lease on its Düsseldorf office long-term. The site in Airport City covers about 6,300 square meters, and the building owner plans modernization work plus investments in heat pumps, charging infrastructure and photovoltaics.
