Siemens Healthineers Faces a Familiar Paradox: Six Buy Calls, One Hold, and a Stock Down 17%

Six of seven research houses rate Siemens Healthineers a buy after September reviews, with an average fair value of EUR 48.67 versus a EUR 37.30 share price.

Sell-side analysts covering Siemens Healthineers have spent September building a case that has yet to find any traction in the share price. Of the seven research houses that refreshed their ratings on the German medical technology group last month, six came back with a buy recommendation and just one advised holding. Not a single institution issued a sell note. The average fair value across the group settled at EUR 48.67.

The market, for now, is telling a different story. Siemens Healthineers changed hands at EUR 37.30 on the day of writing, a decline of 1.6%, extending its year-to-date loss to 17%.

Where the Bulls and the Cautious Diverge

Price targets reveal how wide the gap in conviction really is. JPMorgan sits at the optimistic end, putting fair value at EUR 57 — analyst David Adlington flagged substantial opportunities in the company's new radio-oncology platform, pointing in particular to the efficiency gains it could deliver for clinics. Shorter irradiation windows translate into smoother workflows and better economics for medical institutions, an argument that has resonated with institutional observers.

Berenberg occupies the other end of the spectrum with a EUR 40 target. Even so, the overall stance remains constructive: no house recommended selling.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Siemens Healthineers?

On September 29, JPMorgan reaffirmed its "Overweight" rating and set a target of EUR 57.40. A day later, Jefferies reiterated its buy call with a EUR 50 target. Analyst Julien Dormois judged the company to be on track to meet its annual objectives, anticipating more momentum in Imaging and Precision Therapy during the closing quarter while expecting the diagnostics business to keep contracting.

Accela: A 60-Second Treatment With a Regulatory Hurdle Still Ahead

The technology underpinning much of this optimism is Accela, a radiotherapy platform unveiled roughly a week before these assessments. The system was presented at the ASTRO annual meeting in Boston, and the shares have slipped 4.3% since that debut.

Built on the company's NeoArc technology, Accela is designed to deliver stereotactic irradiation to multiple sites in as little as 60 seconds. The treatment is intended to be completed within a single breath-hold by the patient. The platform combines AI-assisted treatment planning with HyperSight cone-beam computed tomography.

Development relied heavily on collaboration with leading clinical partners, among them the Mayo Clinic, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Mass General Brigham. One critical piece is still missing, however: regulatory clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration has not yet been granted.

Building Bridges Between Diagnostics and Therapy

Beyond radiotherapy, Siemens Healthineers has been expanding its medical partnerships. On September 21, the company agreed to collaborate with Novo on the liver diseases MASLD and MASH, focusing on earlier risk assessment and improved access to non-invasive blood tests.

Siemens Healthineers at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

Such alliances and system launches form essential building blocks for the group's strategy of tying its diagnostics and imaging portfolio more tightly to therapeutic applications. Management is counting on technological differentiation to defend market share in core clinical areas.

Göteborg Gathering Puts Operations Back in the Spotlight

Attention now turns to the Eurospine specialist congress in Gothenburg, running from October 7 to 9. The Swedish event offers the company a platform to deepen dialogue with practitioners and reinforce its positioning in modern treatment approaches — a reminder that, for all the analyst chatter, the operational story is what management wants investors watching.

The November Verdict

Hard numbers arrive on November 5, when Siemens Healthineers publishes results for both the fourth quarter and the full fiscal year. That report will show the extent to which the divisions have lived up to expectations — and whether the distance between analyst targets and the current share price narrows or widens. Much will depend on the pace of regulatory approvals and the commercial rollout of new therapy systems.
