Siemens Healthineers' 60-Second Radiotherapy Push Meets a Regulatory Waiting Game

Siemens Healthineers revealed Accela, a NeoArc-based radiotherapy platform, at ASTRO 2026; it still needs U.S. 510(k) clearance before any sales.

Siemens Healthineers used the ASTRO 2026 oncology congress to pull back the curtain on Accela, a radiotherapy platform built on its in-house NeoArc technology that the company says can deliver stereotactic irradiation to multiple target regions in as little as 60 seconds. The pitch rests on speed: treatments fast enough to be completed inside a single breath-hold cycle, a capability the company frames as a meaningful step forward for complex cases.

What the unveiling did not come with is a green light to sell. Accela still needs clearance under the U.S. 510(k) pathway, leaving the platform off the market for now and pushing any commercial payoff into future fiscal years.

Analysts Cheer the Platform, Temper the Timeline

The capital markets nonetheless greeted the announcement warmly. Jefferies called Accela the most significant refresh of the company's radiotherapy platform in years, keeping its Buy rating and a EUR 50 price target in a note dated September 28, while making clear that material revenue is still some way off. JPMorgan Chase & Co. struck a similar tone, with analyst David Adlington reaffirming an Overweight rating on September 29 and a EUR 57.40 target. His emphasis fell on the efficiency gains that faster clinical workflows could unlock for the group.

Those reactions capture a shared expectation: shorter irradiation windows could ease day-to-day pressure on clinics, particularly when procedures are complex, delivering a tangible productivity boost for treatment centers and their patients alike.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Siemens Healthineers?

A September Packed With Product News

Radiotherapy was only one thread of a busy month. On September 29, Siemens Healthineers announced the global rollout of its Innovance D-Dimer 2.0 assay, a diagnostic test carrying both CE marking and 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Eight days earlier, on September 21, the company disclosed a collaboration with Novo aimed at improving care for the liver conditions MASLD and MASH.

Earlier still, on September 8, it folded the Vuze guidance software for spine surgery into its mobile C-arm system Cios Spin. And roughly three weeks ago, the group flagged an expansion of its manufacturing capacity in medical technology — a stretch during which the share price has slipped 0.8%.

Buybacks Continue Ahead of the November Print

Alongside the product offensive, the company is leaning on shareholder-friendly measures. Under its ongoing repurchase program, Siemens Healthineers bought back another 160,000 of its own shares through September 27. Since the program began in June, the total has reached 3,374,359 shares.

Siemens Healthineers at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

The stock closed Friday at EUR 37.92, a gain of 1.1% on the day, though it remains down 16% since the start of the year. Attention now turns to the financial calendar: on November 5, Siemens Healthineers will publish results for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026 and walk analysts through the details on a conference call, where the integration of its newest products and the progress of its various initiatives are likely to take center stage.
