Siemens Energy: Gamesa's First Profitable Quarter Since 2022 Backs a Bull Case the Market Has Yet to Settle
Published on 10/26/2026 at 22:31 | Editorial boerse-global.deSiemens Energy shares climbed 4.2% on Monday to EUR 123.04, recovering part of the ground lost in a bruising run that had raised fresh questions about how much future growth the stock already discounts. The bounce follows several sessions of heavy selling across the European energy sector, driven by mounting doubts over the long-term returns on artificial intelligence investment and over who will hold pricing power in the equipment that powers data centres.
The rebound puts a valuation debate back at centre stage — one that analysts are answering in sharply different ways.
A record order book and a long-awaited swing to profit
The operating picture offers plenty of support for the bulls. In the third quarter of the fiscal year, Siemens Energy's order backlog reached a record EUR 162 billion, while comparable quarterly revenue rose 18.5% to EUR 11.4 billion. The gains reflect sustained demand for modern power plant and transmission technology, underpinned by a global rebuild of energy networks as electricity consumption climbs on industrial use and digital infrastructure.
Profitability improved markedly alongside the top line. Adjusted earnings before special items came in at EUR 1.623 billion for the quarter, up from EUR 497 million a year earlier. The wind power subsidiary Siemens Gamesa also posted a positive quarterly result — its first since fiscal 2022.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Siemens Energy?
Two analysts, two conclusions
Institutional opinion remains broadly constructive despite the recent turbulence, with both JPMorgan and Deutsche Bank positive on the company's prospects. Not everyone agrees. mwb Research analyst Leon Mühlenbruch reaffirmed a sell rating on Thursday with a price target of EUR 100 — even as his firm projected a strong close to fiscal 2026. The call is less a bet on weak trading than a judgment that the current share price already embeds too much optimism.
Dow Jones Newswires took the opposite tack, framing Siemens Energy as a beneficiary of artificial intelligence infrastructure in a comparison with US rival GE Vernova. The two views can coexist: a long-term growth story and a cautious valuation call are not the same thing, and neither explains Monday's move on its own.
Bruch pushes policy as Passau appearance looms
Separately, chief executive Christian Bruch used a newly published interview to press for energy policy reform, advocating a build-out of renewables alongside fast-available gas-fired capacity. The remarks, which precede a scheduled appearance in Passau on 29 October, amount to a policy position rather than any new order announcement — a distinction worth keeping in mind when weighing them against hard results.
The market is also asking how durable margins will prove if technology companies slow the pace of data centre investment. Cross-checks are coming. GE Vernova reports on 28 October, and its order data should shed light on the true strength of global demand for turbines and electrical infrastructure.
Two dates that could decide the recovery
Closer to home, Siemens Energy faces two pivotal appointments. On 3 November, results arrive from Germany's first tender round for 4.5 gigawatts of new dispatchable power plant capacity — a key indicator for future orders in the company's home market. Then, on 11 November, the group publishes full fourth-quarter and fiscal 2026 figures, the next concrete test of the strong-close thesis.
With the stock trading 37% below its 52-week high, investors are clearly pricing in a measure of uncertainty. Whether the tender outcome and the annual report are enough to turn operational strength into a lasting recovery is the question the coming weeks will answer.
