Siemens Energy: Buybacks Done, a Stake Bought, and a Steam Turbine Sale Still on the Drawing Board

Siemens Energy executed buybacks, joined a USD 200 million Type One Energy round, and signed a Naftogaz memorandum; a steam turbine sale remains open.

Siemens Energy has been busy on several fronts at once, but the three developments now in play sit at very different stages of completion — and that distinction matters more to investors than the headline euro figures attached to each.

Take the share buyback, which is the only one of the three that has actually translated into executed transactions. Siemens Energy picked up 936,589 of its own shares last week, and cumulative purchases since 24 September have reached 2,122,004 shares. These are completed capital measures, not intentions, and they stand apart from the deliberations surrounding the steam turbine unit.

Banks Line Up EUR 6–7 Billion for a Possible Majority Sale

On the steam turbine side, Bloomberg reported Friday that lenders are assembling financing packages worth EUR 6 to 7 billion for a potential majority sale. Siemens Energy had announced in August that it planned to spin off the division.

What the banks are working on is preparation, not completion. The financing plans are neither a purchase price nor proceeds that have already landed in Siemens Energy's accounts, and the announced spin-off should not be conflated with a done majority sale. The Bloomberg report describes work on financing packages — not the closing of any transaction.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Siemens Energy?

Type One Energy Round Closed at USD 200 Million

A third thread runs through the fusion technology space. On 6 October, US-based Type One Energy closed a Series B financing round totaling USD 200 million, with Siemens Energy Ventures participating as an investor alongside others. Reuters carried the news of the completed round.

That USD 200 million is the total volume of the round, not the size of Siemens Energy Ventures' contribution, and it should not be presented as an equivalent capital outlay. Type One Energy intends to deploy the funds toward its fusion technology and Project Infinity. For Siemens Energy, this is a stake in a development financing — a concrete event, but one whose scale is distinct from the group-level figures.

Naftogaz: Memorandum Signed, No Purchase Order Yet

A separate engagement points toward possible future business rather than booked revenue. Naftogaz and Siemens Energy signed a memorandum of understanding on 5 October covering energy security, protection of critical infrastructure, and the modernization of underground gas storage, along with potential power generation projects. The agreement therefore reaches beyond any single procurement decision.

According to Reuters, Naftogaz is considering the purchase of five gas turbine compressor units. That consideration gives the possible commercial angle some shape, but it does not amount to a binding order. No purchase contract for the contemplated units has been reported, and the financing of the fusion technology is likewise not a reported order for Siemens Energy. The memorandum describes fields of possible cooperation, not secured revenue, so investors should treat neither the potential generation projects nor the contemplated procurement as closed business.

DZ Bank Raises Fair Value, Keeps Rating

Analysts, meanwhile, have been recalibrating. DZ Bank lifted its fair value estimate for Siemens Energy on Thursday to EUR 157 from EUR 128, while leaving its rating at "Halten" (hold). The higher valuation thus did not come with a buy recommendation.

Siemens Energy at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

The next fixed date on the calendar is the extended fourth-quarter conference for fiscal year 2026 on 11 November 2026, as listed in Siemens Energy's investor relations financial calendar.

Laid out side by side, the picture is graded rather than uniform: buybacks executed, a stake acquired, a memorandum signed, and a divisional transaction that remains a possibility. For investors, those status differences carry more signal than lumping every figure together as though the capital had already moved.
