SFC Energy's Nine-Month Earnings Triple as UAE Partnership Stays Prospective
Published on 11/01/2026 at 17:43 | Editorial boerse-global.deSFC Energy published preliminary figures for the first nine months of 2026 on Friday, and the headline is the pace at which profit is outrunning sales. Revenue climbed to EUR 132.8 million from EUR 102.7 million a year earlier, while adjusted EBITDA more than tripled to EUR 33.7 million from EUR 10.8 million. Adjusted EBIT came in at EUR 25.7 million, up from EUR 5.0 million.
The company credited the expansion of its defense business — particularly in Ukraine — and a favorable product mix for the improvement. The fact that both revenue and adjusted earnings are rising together carries more weight than any single guidance corridor, since it points to genuine operating progress rather than a one-off effect.
Guidance Raised on Earnings, Not on Sales
Friday's upgrade lifted the expected range for full-year adjusted EBITDA to between EUR 36.0 million and EUR 38.0 million, with adjusted EBIT for fiscal 2026 projected at EUR 25.5 million to EUR 27.5 million. The revenue forecast, however, was left untouched at EUR 166.0 million to EUR 175.0 million. Higher profit expectations therefore did not come with a higher sales outlook — a distinction that sets an important accent.
Management also flagged that the fourth quarter will likely contribute less to earnings than the two preceding quarters. A product mix tilting back toward civilian applications and higher ERP expenses are the reasons given.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying SFC Energy?
A UAE Agreement That Has Yet to Earn Anything
On Tuesday, SFC Energy and EDGE signed a strategic cooperation agreement covering the development, validation and marketing of energy supply solutions in the United Arab Emirates. The targets are defense, public safety and critical infrastructure, with tactical fuel cells and hybrid energy systems among the offerings.
The pact opens an additional commercial avenue, but a cooperation agreement is not the same as realized revenue. Investors should keep the agreed project and its economic results in separate compartments: the nine-month figures document progress already achieved, while the EDGE deal describes a possibility for what comes next. Both merit attention, though not the same evidentiary weight.
Reading the Share Price Move
The stock ended Friday down 3.1%. According to dpa-AFX, the shares turned negative after opening higher on the raised annual guidance. No specific trigger for the reversal has been substantiated.
SFC Energy at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
That move should not be read as a vote of no confidence in the business, nor as proof of mispricing. A single trading day's direction is no substitute for examining how operations are actually developing. The preliminary and adjusted nature of the figures likewise argues for a positive view of operating momentum without unreserved optimism.
MPCM had already confirmed its buy recommendation for SFC Energy on October 21, with a price target of EUR 29. The quarterly statement for the period through September 30, 2026 is scheduled for release on November 11.
