SAP Pairs Cloud ERP Upgrade With IFRS 18 Compliance as Joule Work Nears Full Rollout

SAP has rolled out the 2025 FPS02 release of its Cloud ERP Private package, bundling fresh artificial-intelligence capabilities with sector-specific tools and regulatory updates. The move ties the company's enterprise-software expansion to new reporting and foreign-trade requirements, giving investors more than just another AI headline to weigh.
Among the additions are support for IFRS 18 and for Germany's AUSWIB1M foreign-trade reporting obligations. That pairing matters for how the product news should be read: automation features sit alongside adjustments built for concrete operational needs, making the announcement broader than a simple showcase of extra AI assistants. It points to an evolving offering — but it does not amount to proven financial success.
Joule Work Reaches Every Customer This Month
The AI roadmap gained a firmer timeline in early October. CEO Christian Klein said on October 7 that Joule Work would be made available to all customers before the month was out, sharpening a message SAP had first delivered a day earlier at SAP Connect, where it disclosed that the customer rollout was beginning. Klein's follow-up clarified the scale: distribution would not be limited to a handful of accounts. Even so, an announced rollout is not the same as a completed deployment.
Alongside Joule Work, SAP presented Joule Assistants and the SAP Business AI Platform, using product demonstrations and customer examples to illustrate its "Autonomous Enterprise" vision. That distinction carries weight for valuation. Making a product available grants access; on its own it proves neither usage nor a revenue contribution. The rollout is therefore an execution milestone, not evidence that the AI strategy is paying off commercially.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying SAP?
Finance Tools and a Belgian Acquisition
New finance-process features fit the same pattern. SAP Pay is now generally available in the United States and the United Kingdom, embedded within Cloud ERP. SAP Enterprise Financial Consolidation and further Joule Assistants broaden the lineup for finance, governance and compliance workflows — a sign the company is targeting a range of business tasks rather than staking the presentation on a single assistant. Still, a wider portfolio does not automatically translate into a measurable financial lift.
Roughly a week earlier, SAP agreed to acquire Belgian AI vendor TechWolf, whose software is to be integrated into SAP SuccessFactors. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary conditions including regulatory approvals. Financial terms were not disclosed. Here too, the distinction between a signed transaction and a completed integration applies.
Buyback Keeps Running in the Background
Separately, SAP reported further purchases of its own stock. Last week the company bought 50,000 shares under its ongoing repurchase program, bringing the cumulative total to 8,995,886 shares as of October 9.
The mandatory disclosure documents the program's continuation and should be viewed apart from operational product development: a buyback is a capital measure, while the new software features expand the offering. The repurchase alone says nothing about demand for the applications just announced.

October 21 Becomes the Next Measuring Stick
SAP will publish third-quarter 2026 results on October 21, with a conference call for analysts and investors also scheduled. The release is set for 22:05, followed by the analyst and investor conference at 23:00.
That report gives investors the next occasion to set the product news beside the actual numbers. Today's announcements add AI, industry and regulatory themes to the picture, while the quarterly disclosure turns attention to financial performance. Whether any of it feeds stronger business cannot be inferred from a product launch — and no one should get ahead of the figures by treating the Joule rollout as a proven success. What remains decisive is the gap between announced capabilities and reported results.
