SAP Lines Up Fameccanica Win and AI Certification Tool as Q3 Cloud Test Looms
Published on 10/21/2026 at 11:40 | Editorial boerse-global.deSAP has spent the past week stacking up product and customer announcements, but the market's real attention is fixed on a single deadline: the company's third-quarter 2026 results, due at 22:05 MESZ today, with the analyst and investor call set to open at 23:00 MESZ.
The most tangible commercial signal came on 14 October, when SAP disclosed that Fameccanica has opted for RISE with SAP. Fameccanica is a subsidiary of Angelini Technologies — a distinction that matters, since the deal represents a decision at the subsidiary level rather than a group-wide commitment by the parent company.
Two days earlier, SAP had used its SAP Connect event to unveil new finance-process capabilities, including embedded payments, consolidation functions and expanded AI automation. The two announcements sit on different planes — one is a product build-out, the other a specific customer choice — and shouldn't be read as directly linked.
Certification Gets an AI Overhaul
SAP also announced AI-powered role-play simulations as an additional route for renewing certifications. The feature is designed to sit alongside the existing knowledge tests rather than replace them, and it will cover more than 100 certifications.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying SAP?
Scope is the headline here: the rollout is not confined to a single credential. Still, investors should keep the announced breadth separate from actual availability — SAP has flagged the function, not completed its introduction. For shareholders, the initiative illustrates where the company intends to deploy AI, but it says nothing concrete about cloud growth or progress toward full-year targets.
Analysts Pull in Different Directions
The broker commentary offers no unified verdict. JPMorgan reaffirmed its "Neutral" rating on SAP on 15 October, according to dpa-AFX, without issuing a fresh price target — a confirmation of the existing stance rather than a downgrade.
Barclays took a more constructive line on 13 October, lifting its price target to USD 243 from USD 242 while keeping its "Overweight" rating. The same day, AlphaValue/Baader Europe reportedly cut its rating to "Reduce" from "Accumulate." A neutral call, a raised target and a downgrade landing within 48 hours is hardly a consensus — and none of the moves represents a fundamental shift in recommendation.

Cloud Metrics Take Centre Stage
What actually matters tonight is cloud revenue and the current cloud backlog, the figures that allow a broader read on the business than any single customer win can provide. Expectations centre on the backlog, cloud growth and whether management stands behind its full-year guidance — all forecasts rather than reported numbers.
The Fameccanica contract and the certification upgrade give investors useful operational colour. Neither substitutes for the hard numbers SAP will publish this evening.
