SAP CEO Christian Klein takes the stage in Cologne on Thursday morning to face the very customers his company is asking to embrace its next generation of products. At 09:30, during the annual congress of the German-speaking SAP user group, Klein sits down with representatives of the customer association for a direct exchange on artificial intelligence, operational transformation, and how the wider SAP ecosystem will work together in the years ahead.

The timing is deliberate. The user group has spent its own sessions pressing on value for money and freedom of choice, insisting that new automation tools and AI features prove themselves through measurable process improvements, credible use cases, and clean integration into mixed IT environments. For the Walldorf-based software maker, the conversation is about carrying its customer base into modern architectures and securing buy-in for its newest offerings.

A Product Blitz Behind the Dialogue

Klein's appearance follows a run of announcements at the SAP Connect conference, where the company laid out initiatives built around what it calls the autonomous enterprise. The lineup includes Joule Work, the Joule Assistants, and the SAP Business AI Platform. Pushing beyond classic enterprise software, SAP also unveiled SAP Pay, a move into integrated payment solutions, backed by partnerships with the likes of Moody's Corporation and ORO Labs.

Portfolio expansion is running on a second track. SAP aims to close its planned acquisition of Belgian vendor TechWolf in the fourth quarter of 2026, folding that technology into its SuccessFactors human resources suite. The deal still hinges on customary closing conditions and regulatory clearances.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying SAP?

TechWolf itself was founded in 2018 and brings a platform that maps job profiles and skills, then ties them to strategic corporate goals so that training, internal moves, and hiring can be steered with data. Once integrated into SuccessFactors, it will keep operating as a standalone unit in the Belgian city of Ghent under co-founder Andreas De Neve. No purchase price was officially disclosed; media reports put the transaction in the hundreds of millions of euros. Regulatory approval remains outstanding, with completion targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026.

IBM Deal Targets Faster Cloud Migrations

Alongside the acquisition, SAP expanded its existing collaboration with IBM under the banner "IBM Ready for SAP Solutions." The initiative is designed to smooth the path to cloud ERP for mid-sized and fast-growing businesses while preparing their data for AI workloads. A central piece is scaling the partners' own methodology so systems can go live within weeks rather than months.

Two customer cases were held up as proof. Industrial firm Volumetric Building Companies halved its processing times in procurement, production, and warehousing after switching, while consumer goods manufacturer Second Nature Brands made the move following an acquisition.

Those efforts feed into a cloud business that remains the company's main growth engine. In the second quarter of 2026, the cloud backlog rose 27 percent at constant currencies to EUR 22.9 billion, while cloud ERP suite revenue climbed 25 percent.

Market Steadies as Earnings Date Looms

Investors took the developments in stride. The stock changed hands at EUR 189.12 on Thursday, up 1.0 percent, giving SAP a market value of EUR 217.68 billion. The prior session closed at EUR 187.20, leaving the shares 13 percent above their 200-day moving average of EUR 165.99.

The next real test is already circled. On October 21, 2026, SAP will publish its third-quarter financial results at 22:05 MESZ, followed by an analyst and investor call at 23:00 MESZ. That is when the market will get a hard look at whether the new cloud and platform initiatives are delivering on their operational promise.
