Rock Tech Lithium Taps Siemens Canada for Red Rock Converter Engineering as Financing Takes Shape
Published on 09/23/2026 at 16:50 | Editorial boerse-global.deRock Tech Lithium has locked in binding agreements with Siemens Canada to advance detailed engineering of its planned lithium converter in Red Rock, Ontario — a move that pushes the project into its first operational execution phase and drew a positive response from investors.
The stock climbed 6.6% to EUR 0.4380 in today's session, extending gains logged over the preceding days. In the prior session, the shares had closed at EUR 0.4140, sitting just 0.6% below their 50-day moving average of EUR 0.4166.
Process Control, Instrumentation and a Digital Twin
Under the contracts, Siemens Canada will handle specialized work in process control technology, instrumentation and automation architecture. The arrangement traces back to a strategic memorandum of understanding signed in March 2026 and now covers the electrical engineering design for the facility.
A central pillar of the cooperation is the creation of a digital twin of the converter. The virtual model is intended to channel industrial digitalization technologies and German refining expertise into the venture, allowing process flows to be simulated and optimized before construction begins. The definitive feasibility study (DFS) for the Ontario refining plant, launched at the end of June 2026, is expected to be finalized around mid-December 2026.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Rock Tech Lithium?
A C$6.0 Million Private Placement
The technical work is being underpinned by a strengthened balance sheet. Roughly a week ago, Rock Tech Lithium closed an upsized private placement whose volume was raised from an initial C$5.2 million to C$6.0 million. In total, the company placed about 9.2 million units at C$0.65, each consisting of one common share and half a warrant. Gross proceeds came to roughly C$5.31 million from the issuance of 8,171,793 units, with the second tranche alone contributing C$3.51 million. The fresh capital is earmarked for general operating needs as well as the feasibility studies for both the Red Rock converter and the upstream Georgia Lake mining project. Derek Sobel also returned as Chief Financial Officer.
Northern Innovators Award and Local Feedstock Research
Beyond engineering, Rock Tech Lithium is cultivating regional partnerships. On September 9, the company and Thunder Bay Pulp and Paper received the Northern Innovators Award 2026 from trade publication Mining Life & Exploration News. The collaboration, backed by the Ontario Critical Minerals Innovation Fund and involving Queen's University, is examining the use of crude tall oil — a byproduct of the forestry industry — as a sustainable flotation reagent in lithium processing. The cross-sector effort is designed to anchor the planned Ontario value chain through local alliances.
Investor Outreach and Sector Consolidation
Management's calendar is filling up with capital markets engagements. A meeting was held on September 21 as part of an investor roundtable to outline implementation plans for the regional value chain in Ontario. Further appearances at capital market conferences and political events are scheduled for today, Wednesday, the September 25–27 window, and September 28 and 30.
The broader market backdrop remains shaped by consolidation. According to Reuters, Titan Australia Mining acquired rival Global Lithium Resources for A$333 million — a sign that takeover activity in the lithium sector persists despite muted valuations across the electric mobility space. Rock Tech Lithium currently carries a market capitalization of EUR 50.38 million.
