Word of the conference did little to lift the token. XRP changed hands at 1.38 USD, leaving it down 25 percent since the start of the year. Yet beneath that subdued price action, exchange data points to meaningful repositioning: large holdings have been migrating into private custody, a pattern traders often read as evidence of longer-horizon accumulation. With fewer tokens sitting on trading platforms, the supply available for quick liquidation tends to thin out.

Batch V1.1 Nears Activation

The network itself is on the verge of a functional upgrade. Ayo Akinyele, engineering chief at RippleX, said institutional asset managers are gearing up to use new transaction capabilities in the XRP Ledger. At the heart of the change is the Batch V1.1 protocol, which lets up to eight transactions be bundled atomically — meaning all linked operations either execute together or roll back entirely if one fails. The design raises the technical efficiency of complex transaction chains and opens the door to professional financial market applications.

Activation is imminent. Provided the required 80 percent validator approval threshold holds steady for two weeks, the protocol takes effect on September 29, 2026 at 14:06 UTC.

AI Agents Get Their Own Payment Rails

Ripple is simultaneously pushing deeper into automated payment infrastructure. On Thursday, the company said the XRP Ledger developer kit now supports the Machine Payments Protocol, a standard built by Stripe and Tempo that allows autonomous programs to pay for services such as data or computing power on their own. A newly introduced starter kit extends this further, letting artificial intelligences execute transactions independently, with XRP and the RLUSD stablecoin serving as settlement currencies. The partnerships are aimed at standardizing payment flows between automated software agents.

Washington Stalls, Wall Street Prepares

Regulatory headwinds in the US continue to weigh on investor sentiment. The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act failed a procedural vote in the US Senate last Tuesday, tempering hopes for swift passage of clear legal guardrails. Even so, appetite from traditional finance remains visible: registration filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission recently surfaced for the ProShares XRP ETF and the ProShares Ultra XRP ETF. Filing those documents does not amount to regulatory approval, but it signals groundwork being laid for future institutional investment vehicles.

Trading has been choppy in the meantime. XRP was quoted at 1.37 USD on Sunday, a daily decline of 4.2 percent, though the price still sits 9.3 percent above its 50-day moving average. With the legal picture in Washington unresolved, market watchers are now training their attention on the network upgrade's scheduled completion at the end of September.
