Ripple's Monthly Escrow Release Meets a Ten-Day ETF Inflow Streak
Published on 09/14/2026 at 15:10 | Editorial boerse-global.deRipple unlocked another one billion XRP from its escrow vault at the start of September, executing the transfer in three separate batches of 500 million, 400 million, and 100 million tokens. The move, carried out on September 1, trimmed the locked balance to roughly 31.28 billion XRP. It is the same monthly ritual the company has run for years, yet it remains a date circled on many traders' calendars because of what it could mean for the supply available to the open market.
What makes this particular release more interesting is the backdrop against which it occurred. US-listed XRP exchange-traded funds have now logged ten consecutive trading sessions of net inflows. On September 8 alone, close to six million dollars flowed in, with Franklin's XRPZ product accounting for 1.55 million dollars of that daily total. The following day brought roughly 12.29 million dollars in net inflows — the second straight positive session — reinforcing the impression that institutional appetite, while measured, is not fading.
For the month to date, cumulative inflows into these vehicles stand at just under 14.86 million dollars. The sums are modest by the standards of larger crypto products, but the consistency tells its own story: capital is entering gradually rather than in a speculative rush, suggesting a slow build of conviction rather than a momentum chase.
A Regulatory Footnote, Not a Verdict
On the same day the ETF flows came in, the SEC approved Rule 5711(d) for Nasdaq Texas. The order, numbered 34-106268, uses XRP as an example of so-called commodity-based trust shares. Media reports were quick to note that this does not amount to a federal classification of XRP as a commodity. The listing standards of the exchange have shifted, but the legal status of the token itself remains unresolved — a distinction that matters for anyone reading the headline as a definitive regulatory stamp.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?
The next meaningful regulatory checkpoint arrives September 15, when the US Senate is scheduled to hold a cloture vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. The outcome could reshape how digital assets are categorized in the US and, by extension, how XRP is viewed by regulators and institutions alike.
Ledger Maintenance Continues in the Background
On the technical side, the XRP Ledger's fixCleanup3_3_0 amendment — also referred to as XRPL 3.3.0 — has been inside its two-week activation window since September 3. Activation was considered possible as early as September 11, contingent on validator approval. Upgrades of this kind have rarely moved the price in the past, but they serve as a barometer of the network's ongoing maintenance and development.
Price Recovers, but the Gap to Last Year's High Remains Wide
XRP is currently changing hands at 1.37 dollars, roughly 12 percent above its 50-day average of 1.22 dollars — a sign that the recovery from September's lows is holding. The token has gained about 40 percent over the past 30 days, a striking turnaround after a softer stretch in prior months. Even so, it sits well below the year's peak of 3.18 dollars, reached in mid-September of last year, leaving more than half of that level still to be reclaimed.
The combination of routine escrow releases, incremental ETF demand, and a regulatory calendar with two significant dates on it means XRP is currently being pulled by several forces at once. None of them alone explains the price action, but together they sketch a market that is neither euphoric nor disengaged — just cautiously positioned ahead of the next catalyst.
