Ripple's Monthly Escrow Release Meets a Ledger Patch Still Short of Votes
Published on 11/04/2026 at 10:11 | Editorial boerse-global.deRipple moved one billion XRP out of escrow on Sunday, split across two transactions of 500 million tokens each. The transfer followed the company's long-scheduled monthly cadence, and on its own it says nothing about whether any of those coins have been sold or are being pressed onto the market. Unlocking tokens and offloading them are separate acts, and reading the release as a sell signal goes beyond what the record supports. By the same token, it is no evidence of fresh demand either.
The distinction matters because a cluster of other Ripple-linked headlines landed in the same stretch, and each needs to be filed in its own drawer.
Custody Widens, Demand Doesn't Follow Automatically
On 27 October, BNY and Ripple unveiled an expanded tie-up. BNY's digital asset custody platform now covers XRP and RLUSD for eligible institutional clients, and the two firms intend to explore tokenized trade finance on the XRP Ledger, starting from a supplier-finance initiative with C2FO. One piece is live custody; the other is a field still under review, not a commitment to full rollout. Nor does a custody platform's backing say anything about the size of any additional XRP purchases.
Fund data offered a separate signal: US spot XRP ETFs drew net inflows of $8.43 million on 29 October, according to media reports. That documents money entering those products. It does not establish whether the escrowed tokens were sold or absorbed by those funds.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?
Regulatory progress needs the same careful sorting. Ripple said on 28 October that the OCC had granted final approval for the Ripple National Trust Bank, which may manage RLUSD reserves, act as securities trustee for those reserves, and offer fiduciary custody of digital assets. Issuance of RLUSD stays with Ripple's New York-regulated subsidiary. A separately announced Coinbase partnership concerns access to the RLUSD stablecoin, not a new XRP listing.
A Security Fix That Touches Issued Tokens, Not the XRP Supply
Meanwhile, a scheduled correction in the XRP Ledger targets issued tokens rather than the native XRP amount. Its purpose is to stop accounts holding only a burn authorization from minting new tokens without permission. For XRP holders the boundary is what counts: the flaw offers no route to expanding the XRP supply.
Whether the change actually activates depends on validator support. The amendment, fixCleanup3_4_0, is expected to take effect around 14:46 UTC, with 33 of 35 tracked validators backing it as of Monday. That backing has to hold through the network's decisive voting point. Activation is therefore not a done deal — a temporary dip in support already pushed the timetable back once in October, and the voting mechanism remains a live caveat for this window too.
The fix also repairs calculation errors in trading pools, vault functions and lending features. No publicly known exploitation of the authorization gap has been reported, which sets this apart from a confirmed attack: the focus is remedying a technical weakness, not cleaning up after proven damage.
Developers are additionally drafting rules for tokens with access restrictions. Those were neither merged into the main software nor activated at the time. The XRP Ledger Foundation described the work as routine protocol hardening rather than a security incident, and said it knew of no outside exploitation of the relevant exceptions. For investors, the split matters: the expected correction and the further proposals sit at different stages of implementation.

Wallet Growth Is Activity, Not Buying
A further attention signal comes from wallet counts. Santiment data shows 7,934 new wallets created on the XRP Ledger on Sunday — the sixth-highest daily figure of 2026. New wallets are not automatically new users or buyers. The metric documents additional addresses, not a matching inflow of capital, and no concrete demand effect for XRP can be inferred from it.
With the token trading at $1.26, the technical rollout takes priority for holders. The first question is whether the announced cleanup clears the current voting conditions. A confirmed completion would be a clearly different thing from the expectation that preceded it.
