Ripple outlined 2027 plans for XRP-collateralized credit and Paxos added XRP to its brokerage platform, while the token traded near $1.40.

XRP holders got a double dose of infrastructure news this week, with Ripple sketching a path toward collateralized credit and Paxos wiring the token into a regulated brokerage stack. The price, however, refused to play along: the token changed hands at 1.40 USD, sitting 2.2% beneath its 50-day moving average of 1.43 USD, according to one reading of the tape. A separate snapshot put the asset at 1.42 USD, down 5.0% over seven days and 23% since the start of the year.

Credit Tests Target 2027 Rollout

Speaking at the XRP Seoul conference, Ripple president Monica Long said the company has begun trial runs that would let institutions pledge XRP as collateral to finance cross-border payments. The idea is to give settlement desks more room to maneuver their liquidity rather than pre-funding every corridor. Long pointed to 2027 as the target for a full commercial launch, with extensive testing scheduled in the interim.

The credit pilot lands alongside a broadening of Ripple's prime services arm. On Tuesday the company expanded its tie-up with asset manager Brevan Howard; the Ripple Prime unit will handle multi-asset prime brokerage, clearing and financing for Brevan Howard-managed funds. Neither side disclosed financial terms or a start date.

Paxos Opens the Door for Brokerage Clients

Paxos has folded XRP into its brokerage platform, allowing partner institutions to buy, sell, custody and transfer the token through existing systems as of yesterday. The infrastructure provider cited a network of more than 8.1 million wallets and a client roster that includes Interactive Brokers and PayPal. Firms plugged into Paxos can now offer XRP services without standing up their own custody and trading rails.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?

Fund managers are widening their own settlement options in parallel. Grayscale named Anchorage Digital Bank as an additional custodian for its spot XRP fund, complementing Coinbase Custody, according to SEC filings earlier in the week. The firm also began letting authorized participants deposit tokens directly for share creation, a change aimed at smoothing arbitrage and trading on NYSE Arca. The Wall Street Journal reported that Ripple has also stepped into the US financial sector as a provider of swap financing for leveraged exchange-traded funds.

ETF Flows Lose Steam After Summer Run

Regulated products told a more mixed story. US spot XRP ETFs pulled in 3.14 million USD in net inflows on Tuesday, with Bitwise's fund alone attracting 10.55 million USD; redemptions elsewhere trimmed the daily total. The weekly picture was far softer: net inflows across US XRP funds amounted to just 4.74 million USD, a steep drop from the 75.6 million USD booked in the prior period. Assets under management across the products sit at roughly 1.7 billion USD.

The cooling reflects a broader risk-off mood. Rising ten-year US Treasury yields and geopolitical tensions have triggered wide liquidations across digital assets, and institutions appear to be using the calmer stretch for strategic pilots rather than fresh allocations.

Asia Partnerships Take Shape

South Korea's Meritz Securities has struck a partnership with Ripple to explore uses of Ripple Custody and tokenization infrastructure for the domestic capital market. The work is meant to position the brokerage ahead of expected rule changes for security tokens in South Korea, penciled in for February 2027.

On the network side, Ripple carried out its customary monthly escrow release on October 1, unlocking 1 billion XRP across four separate transactions as part of a predictable liquidity schedule. Attention also remains on the XRP Ledger's technical roadmap after the Batch V1.1 protocol amendment drew discussion just over a week ago.

Whether the widening web of custodians, brokers and pilot programs translates into fresh capital will hinge on the broader market steadying. The rails, at least, are now in place.
