Published on 11/01/2026 at 09:01 | Editorial boerse-global.deRheinmetall shares shed 2.0% on Friday as German defence names moved lower across the board, with no company-specific announcement accounting for the slide. Claim of Responsibility Surfaces in Kassel-Calden Blaze
Away from the trading floor, investigators in northern Hesse were examining a purported claim of responsibility posted online after three construction vehicles burned on a Rheinmetall site at Kassel-Calden airport, where the company plans a facility. The fire struck in the night to Friday, and additional machinery sustained damage.
Police initially treated the incident as deliberate arson, with the state security unit looking into a possible political motive. The authenticity of the online letter is still being verified, and neither perpetrators nor motive have been confirmed.

First Caracal Vehicles Handed to German and Dutch Forces

Telford Gun Hall Restores British Large-Calibre Output
The company also opened the UK Gun Hall at Rheinmetall Defence UK in Telford on 22 October, a facility for manufacturing large-calibre weapons. According to Rheinmetall, the move brings independent large-calibre gun production back to the United Kingdom. At full capacity, the site is designed for up to 245 barrels and more than 50 breech mechanisms a year. Rheinmetall put its UK investment over the past five years at more than GBP 200 million.
Naval Showcase and Q3 Date on the Calendar
Investors' next confirmed financial milestone is the release of third-quarter 2026 results on 5 November 2026 — a date that places the group's reporting squarely inside the earnings season cited as part of the sector's difficult backdrop. Rheinmetall also announced it will present its naval portfolio at Euronaval, running from 3 to 6 November 2026. Exhibits on show are set to include the Kraken K3 drone, the Millennium Gun naval cannon and the MASS decoy system.
