Rheinmetall Insiders Commit €737,654 While U.S. Army Order and Norwegian Plant Extend Reach

Two purchases by Rheinmetall's top leadership and its affiliated foundation have put €737,654.40 of insider money behind the Düsseldorf defense contractor, arriving at a moment when the stock has surrendered 38% since the start of the year.
The larger of the two transactions came from CEO Armin Theodor Papperger, who on September 29 acquired shares worth €498,947.80 at an average price of €950.38 apiece. Days later, on Friday, the Sara Georgi Stiftung — an organization closely tied to supervisory board member Andreas Arthur Georgi — followed with a purchase totaling €238,706.60. Moves of this kind tend to draw close scrutiny from market participants, who often read them as a statement of confidence in the company's underlying operations, particularly after a stretch of sustained selling pressure.
Rheinmetall shares closed Friday's Xetra session at €959.80, giving the group a market capitalization of €44.66 billion.
Washington Places a Fresh Order
The insider activity coincided with new business out of the United States. American Rheinmetall Defense, the group's U.S. subsidiary, secured a U.S. Army contract covering 3,104 improved MK93 softmount mounts along with the modernization of 245 existing systems. The deal carries a volume of roughly €18.05 million, equivalent to $20.7 million, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2026 and run through October 2027.
That award sits alongside other recent wins. Rheinmetall reported a framework agreement with Germany's Generalzolldirektion for the technical support and overhaul of four LNG customs vessels, adding a maritime maintenance stream to its order book.

Nordic Footprint Widens, Satellite Reaches Orbit
Beyond the U.S. business, the company continues to build out its European industrial base. Rheinmetall Nordic opened a new facility in Skoppum, Norway, spanning 4,579 square meters of gross floor area and designed to accommodate as many as 127 employees.
Space is part of the expansion story as well. A joint effort between Rheinmetall Italia and partner Argotec placed an airspace surveillance satellite into orbit, with a second launch penciled in for 2028.
Berenberg Stays Bullish as Sector Sentiment Sours
Analyst opinion has held firm even as the broader European defense sector lost ground in September. Speculation about a possible appearance by Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit unsettled the industry, though no direct link between that chatter and the price declines has been established.
Berenberg confirmed its buy rating on Rheinmetall on September 25 with a price target of €1,600. Analyst Chris Armstrong anchored his call on fiscal-policy tailwinds and rising defense exports, ranking the stock among his sector favorites.
On the shareholder register, FMR LLC trimmed its voting stake to 2.78% from 3.02%, crossing below the disclosure threshold on September 18.
Rheinmetall is leaning on a combination of fresh military orders and targeted capacity expansion as it works to shore up investor confidence in the capital markets.
