Renk's Reset: Analysts See Orders Outpacing Profit as November Test Looms
Published on 10/24/2026 at 09:50 | Editorial boerse-global.deRenk has spent the past week telling investors two different stories at once — one about what it will sell, and one about what it will earn from what's left. The market has yet to decide which matters more.
Shares slipped 2.3% on Friday amid a news flow that has grown steadily more crowded: a binding agreement to offload the plain-bearings business, a freshly trimmed full-year outlook, and a pair of price-target cuts from major houses. No single catalyst has been confirmed for Friday's move, though the revised guidance and the lower targets form the backdrop.
Guidance Cut Goes Beyond the Portfolio Math
The headline numbers Renk put forward on Thursday cover continuing operations: roughly EUR 1.4 billion in revenue for fiscal 2026 and adjusted EBIT of EUR 240 million to 255 million. That compares with earlier guidance of more than EUR 1.5 billion in sales and adjusted EBIT at the upper end of a EUR 255 million to 285 million range.
The distinction between a portfolio effect and an operating one is where the debate starts. Traders quoted by dpa-AFX read the new guidance as a modest operational downgrade — meaning the revision cannot be explained away purely by the agreed sale of the bearings unit. Reuters reported Thursday that the adjusted outlook also falls short of analyst expectations for the continuing activities.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Renk Group?
The disposal itself is not yet done. Renk, through subsidiary Renk GmbH, signed a binding contract with Austria's Miba AG at a purchase price in the low-to-mid three-digit million-euro range. Completion remains subject to regulatory clearance, so the signed deal is not the same as a closed one.
Two Houses, Two Targets, One Rating
JPMorgan moved first, cutting its price target to EUR 50 from EUR 62 on Wednesday while keeping an Overweight rating. The bank pointed to a slower ramp-up in German armored-vehicle programs and gloomier prospects for Renk's industrial operations. Barclays followed on Thursday, trimming its target to EUR 57 from EUR 60 and likewise staying at Overweight.
Both actions pair lower targets with continued positive recommendations — a combination that leaves the tension intact rather than resolving it. The lower earnings estimates speak to operating performance, not merely to which businesses will remain inside the group.
MPCM added another layer on Thursday, reaffirming its buy call with a EUR 63 target. Analyst Christian Cohrs expects order intake ahead of the consensus estimate when quarterly figures land, but sees adjusted operating profit coming in below expectations. That divergence — stronger demand, softer margins — is the central question for the next disclosure. A robust order book would be a positive demand signal, though it would not by itself offset a weaker profit line. Cohrs's view is a pre-release expectation, not reported business figures.

What November Has to Settle
Renk publishes its nine-month report for 2026 on 5 November, followed by a conference call. That date is the next scheduled opportunity to measure actual trading against the revised annual outlook — and to test whether Cohrs's predicted mix of above-consensus orders and below-consensus adjusted EBIT materializes.
For investors, the operating performance of the continuing business takes precedence over the strategic reshuffling. Restructuring the portfolio does not answer how Renk intends to meet the lowered bar. That is where the focus sits after the latest trading week.
