Renk's Miba Exit Reshapes the Revenue Base While Analysts Trim Their Price Targets
Published on 10/25/2026 at 03:21 | Editorial boerse-global.deRenk's agreement to sell its plain bearings division to Austria's Miba is meant to sharpen the group's focus on defence. What it has also done is redraw the yardstick against which investors must read the company's guidance — and that distinction sits at the heart of this week's analyst revisions.
The transaction, announced on Thursday and struck through subsidiary Renk GmbH, still hinges on regulatory approval. It is not yet closed. Until it is, the figures Renk has published describe a business that will look different from the one that generated past results.
A Forecast That No Longer Covers the Whole Group
For the current financial year, Renk expects revenue of around EUR 1.4 billion from continuing operations. Adjusted EBIT is guided to a range of EUR 240 million to EUR 255 million. Both figures explicitly exclude the division being divested, which in the past accounted for roughly ten percent of group revenue, according to company statements. From the fourth quarter of 2026, the plain bearings business will be reported as a discontinued operation.
That carve-out matters for how the numbers are read. A smaller company and a weaker operating outlook are two separate consequences of the same announcement, and conflating them distorts the picture. Traders, as reported by dpa-AFX, treated the revised guidance as a modest downgrade to operating profit expectations — evidence that the market did not view the adjustment as a purely arithmetic effect of the sale.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Renk Group?
Buy Ratings Intact, Valuation Marks Lowered
Two brokers moved within days of each other, and both landed on the same combination: a lower fair value, an unchanged recommendation.
On Friday, DZ Bank cut its fair value for Renk to EUR 56 from EUR 64 while keeping its "Buy" rating. Analyst Holger Schmidt tied the revision of his estimates to the announced acquisitions and disposals. JPMorgan had acted earlier in the week, on Wednesday, trimming its price target to EUR 50 from EUR 62 and reaffirming its "Overweight" call; the US bank adjusted its valuation model to reflect the bearings divestment.
Neither move amounts to a change of heart on the stock. Both amount to a recalibration of what the shares are worth under the new corporate shape. A retained rating is not a statement that expectations have stood still.
The Stock Slips as the Strategic Case Builds
Shares in Renk fell 2.3% on Friday, a decline that ran alongside the positive recommendations rather than in contradiction to them.
Renk Group at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Longer-dated signals point the other way. Roughly two weeks ago, Renk agreed an order extension with KNDS Deutschland covering HSWL-354 transmissions together with their control units and gear selector switches. The contract is worth about EUR 130 million, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2029 and wrap up in 2032.
That award underpins the defence narrative but says nothing about near-term earnings. Strategic focus, a multi-year order book and current profit expectations are three different lenses on the same company — and this week's share price pressure speaks mainly to the last of them.
