Alexander Sagel put close to a quarter of a million euros of his own money into Renk Group stock on the same day the defence contractor published its nine-month figures — a purchase disclosed in a mandatory filing that surfaced alongside the results.

The chief executive bought 6,790 shares at €35.17 apiece in Xetra trading, a total outlay of €238,802.94. The transaction, dated yesterday, lands while the shares change hands well below what sell-side analysts think they are worth.

Deutsche Bank Research, for one, reiterated its buy recommendation after the third-quarter release. Analyst Christophe Menard called the operating performance solid and broadly in line with expectations, though he flagged free cash flow as the weak spot. His price target stays at €73 — more than double the current €34.50 share price.

Orders Outpace Revenue as Margins Firm Up

The order book is where the growth story is most visible. Incoming orders over the first nine months of 2026 reached €1,664.4 million, an increase of 33.6% year on year. The backlog stood at €7.6 billion as of 30 September.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Renk Group?

Revenue for the same period rose 5.8% to €982.0 million, a markedly slower pace than orders. Profitability improved faster than sales: adjusted EBIT climbed 12.7% to €158.8 million.

The third quarter on its own showed revenue of roughly €350 million, up 12%, with adjusted operating profit ahead 17%. Earnings therefore outgrew turnover in the quarter, which is the core of Menard's positive read on the business — and the reason the cash flow miss stands out.

Guidance Held, but the Bar Stays High

Renk reaffirmed its full-year outlook for continuing operations. Management still expects revenue of about €1.4 billion for 2026 and adjusted EBIT of between €240 million and €255 million.

Hitting those numbers is the yardstick against which the bullish case will be measured, particularly given the scale of the targets. Just as important is whether the company can convert its swelling backlog into revenue and profit — and, on the Deutsche Bank view, into free cash.

Other houses have also come out in support. Price targets outside Deutsche Bank range from €50 to €60, and DZ Bank gave the quarterly operating performance a positive assessment. The cash flow criticism attaches a condition to that optimism: a more convincing valuation needs progress on free cash flow, not just growth.

Renk Group at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

Submarine Contract and a London Strategy Date

On the operational front, Renk said on 29 October that its Magnet-Motor unit had won an order from Saab for a significant submarine programme run by a NATO member state. The same announcement previewed the company's maritime portfolio at Euronaval in Paris, a trade fair running from 3 to 6 November.

Investors will get a fuller picture on 8 December, when Renk holds a hybrid strategy update in London. Sagel is due to lay out the group's strategic direction there.

For now the picture is a company pairing solid operating momentum and a hefty order cushion with a cash flow line that disappointed. The insider purchase is a confidence signal; the confirmed guidance and the execution of the backlog remain the fundamental tests.
